(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 21 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 58 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Chen Meihua from Puning City was secretly taken to the Guangdong Women’s Prison on April 28, 2021. Her sentence was extended to December 2022, making it one year longer than the original two-year prison term.
Ms. Ma Kunfang, 80, from Liaoyang County, was arrested at home for living by the principles of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance by officers from the Liaoyang County Domestic Security Division on November 6, 2020. She was released on bail that evening.
Ms. Ma was tried by the Dengta City Court on March 29, 2021, and was sentenced to three years and six months in prison. Her family appealed.
Ms. Li Changlan, 76, from the Jinpu New Area, was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials in 2020. She was placed under residential surveillance. During the period, staff from the Pulandian Procuratorate and court personnel repeatedly went to her home, harassed her, and took her to the hospital for physical examinations.
On June 2, 2021, the Pulandian Court sentenced her to six months in prison and fined her 5,000 yuan. Her sentence was suspended for one year.
Officer Zhang Haiyang from the Shisanling Police Station, Changping District, and others went to Ms. Gao Guihua’s home and harassed her on June 13, 2021. They video-recorded her with their body cameras.
Several officers from the Dongji Police Station broke into the home of Mr. Shang Dejun and Ms. Wang Zhen and ransacked the place on June 11, 2021. Both practitioners were taken to the police station. Their 90-year-old mother was placed under surveillance. When she asked where Mr. Shang and Ms. Wang were, the police refused to tell her.
Ms. Zhang Qiaoxiu (Ms. Zhang Qiaolei’s sister) and her daughter Ms. Wang Meiqi were officially arrested for filing complaints and appeals on behalf of their relative.
Ms. Wang Ping was forcibly taken away by people who were waiting in a van parked near her house on June 9, 2021. She was taken to the Dianzi Brainwashing Center. Later, domestic security officer Yang Qinglin led others to ransack her home, and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun.
Ms. Zhao Fangyu from Chengyang District was placed under criminal detention on June 3, 2021. She is being held in the Pudong Detention Center.
Large-scale arrests were carried out in Jiaozhou City on June 2, 2021. The police arrested 30 Falun Gong practitioners. Among those arrested, Ms. Wang Lian was tried on June 9. The result of the trial is unclear.
Ms. Yan Hongzhuan was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Gongbei Police Station at noon on May 28, 2021. She was detained in the Doumen District No. 2 Detention Center for ten days. She left the facility with righteous thoughts on June 8.
Most of the Falun Gong practitioners in Jiaozuo City were harassed during the recent round of “zero-out” campaigns.
Ms. Wei Rongrong was arrested on June 3, 2021. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Dafa books were confiscated.
Ms. Qin Fengxian from the Pudong New Area was arrested by members of the local 610 Office and police officers on the afternoon of June 10, 2021. She is being held in the Zhangjiang Detention Center.
Ms. Yuan Wangdi and two other practitioners from Datong Town were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on April 26, 2021. They were arrested by officers from the Tanlin Town Police Station.
The officers confiscated what they were carrying, and ransacked their homes. One older practitioner was released immediately, and another practitioner was released the following day. Ms. Yuan is still being held in custody.
It was reported that Ms. Liu Yunling from Yuanjiang City was arrested at home by people from the Yuanjiang City Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office, among other organizations, in early June 2021. She is being held in the Yiyang City Detention Center.
Several Falun Gong practitioners in Liuyang City have been arrested since mid-May 2021. Four of them are still being held in the detention center.
Ms. Hu Zhihua was arrested and her home was ransacked on the afternoon of May 15, 2021. She was interrogated and blood-tested at the Huaichuan Police Station. The officers video-recorded her. She was released after midnight. She was called to the police station again on May 30 and was video-recorded again. The officers wanted to take her to the detention center. She walked out of the police station with righteous thoughts.
Ms. Liao Meiying, Ms. Li Mingchun, and Ms. Ling Yun from Daweishan Town were arrested and taken to the Liuyang City Detention Center by officers from the Daweishan Police Station on the afternoon of June 6, 2021.
Ms. Liu Lixia was arrested for distributing Falun Gong materials and sentenced to three and a half years in prison in late September 2019.
Ms. Zou Kelan was taken to the Changsha Detention Center in August 2020. Her current situation is not clear.
Four officers, some in plainclothes, from the Baiyun Street Police Station broke into the home of 87-year-old Ms. Ma Mingxiu on June 2, 2021. They arrested her and 71-year-old Cong Peihua (gender unknown). They ransacked her home and confiscated an audio recorder and printed materials. The two practitioners were interrogated separately at the police station.
Ms. Ma was released because of her age and paid 5,000 yuan for bail. She went home at around 8:20 p.m. Cong is still being held in custody, pending a prison term.
Officers from the Xinhua Police Department arrested Ms. Zhou and her non-practitioner husband at 8 a.m. on June 11, 2021, and ransacked the couple’s home. Ms. Zhou’s husband was released that day.
At the same time, practitioners Ms. Sun Guiling, Ms. Wang Hongzhen, Xin, and Chen (two practitioners’ first names and genders are unknown) were arrested and their homes were ransacked. Three of them were released that day. Ms. Wang remains in police custody.
Ms. Tang Le, 36, was arrested at work by six plainclothes officers on the morning of June 11. Before being taken away, Ms. Tang wrote her family’s contact information on a piece of paper for her work unit officials to contact her family. One of the police officers erased the information with a pen. As a result, her work unit failed to contact her family in time.
Officers body-searched her, took her keys, went to her home, and ransacked the place. They confiscated an Apple laptop, a cell phone, a tablet computer, and a printer. Ms. Tang is being held in the Chaoyang City Detention Center for ten days of detention. Her family members went to the detention center at noon on June 12, but the detention center did not allow them to meet with her.
Ms. Qiu Tieling and Ms. Wang Jinhui from Xincheng District were arrested on the afternoon of June 4, 2021, for distributing Falun Gong materials and talking to people about Falun Gong. Their two electric bicycles were impounded. The officers ransacked their homes and confiscated their Falun Dafa books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and computers.
Both practitioners went on hunger strikes to protest the persecution. Ms. Qiu was taken to the Fanjiatun Detention Center. Ms. Wang was not yet sent to the detention center as she had a fever.
Ms. Qiu’s husband had a second relapse after having a stroke. Since April, she has been taking her husband to a clinic every day. The clinic is 7 miles away, and she has to carry her husband on an electric bicycle. Ms. Wang’s parents are very old. Her mother has been bedridden for many years and cannot take care of herself. Ms. Qiu’s husband and Ms. Wang’s parents are having difficulty managing their daily lives.
Mr. Chen Mingxi was heading out of his home on June 8, 2021. As soon as he opened the door, he was stopped by nearly ten people, including Wu Yongdong from the Yubei District Domestic Security Division and Li Chuan from the Shuanglong Police Station.
They forced their way into his home, searched his bag, ransacked the place, and confiscated two laptop computers, two printers, a paper cutter, a paperweight, a portable TV set, two sets of Dafa books, over 10,000 yuan in paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them, over 1,000 yuan in cash, and two smartphones.
They took Mr. Chen to the police station and then to the Shuangfengqiao Health Center for a physical examination, blood test, and blood pressure measurement. His blood pressure was high, at 175, and the doctor said he should go to the Chinese Medicine Hospital for reexamination, and to update his medical records. Mr. Chen was taken to the Liangjiang Hospital for nucleic acid testing and a brain CT scan, then taken to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for a blood pressure measurement. His blood pressure reading was again high, at 185.
After he was brought back to the police station, the officers took his fingerprints, palm prints, voice samples, and blood samples. They also tested his pupils. That night, the police announced their decision that Mr. Chen would be placed under residential surveillance for six months.
Mr. Chen suffered severe injuries to his head and hands during the persecution, which resulted in lifetime disabilities. His wife Ms. Wang Xiaoxia, who was also a practitioner, died abruptly during a court hearing. The cause of her sudden death remains undisclosed.
Ms. Liu and two elderly female practitioners from the Nangang District, were arrested on June 10, 2021.
Ms. Yan from Xidaqiao Community was also arrested on the same day. The details of her situation are unknown.
Mr. Li Jiwu, nearly 70, from Jianghuatun Village, Yushu Town, Daoli District, was arrested by officers from the Daoli Domestic Security Division on the morning of June 10, 2021. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated his cell phone and nearly a car load of items.
The police set up a task force to handle Mr. Li’s case. Mr. Li’s nearly 70-year-old wife Ms. Wang Chunying was paralyzed and bedridden for over half a year, and was unable to take care of herself. She was taken to a nursing home after the arrest of her husband, who used to take care of her.
Practitioner Sun Jian (gender unknown) was arrested at home by officers from the Gexin Street Police Station, Nangang District, on June 10, 2021. Details to follow.
Mr. Pu Fanwei, Ms. Yu Wei (Mr. Pu’s wife), Mr. Ma Qingyun, Ms. Zhu Xiaoyan (Mr. Ma’s wife), Mr. Xing Defu, Mr. Xing’s wife, Mr. Xing’s non-practitioner son, Mr. Zheng, Mr. Zheng’s wife, Mr. Zheng’s sister, Ms. Li Kun, and Ms. Xu Shufen were arrested by officers from the Longfeng Police Department on June 10, 2021.
Among them, Mr. Xing’s wife and son were released on bail. Mr. Zheng, his wife, their sister, and two other practitioners were released. Mr. Pu, Ms. Yu, Mr. Ma, Ms. Zhu, and Mr. Xing were taken to the Daqing City Detention Center.
Ms. Liu Shujuan from Longfeng District was arrested by more than twelve plainclothes officers on the morning of June 10, 2021.
Officers from the Yangming Police Station knocked on the door of the rented home of 70-year-old Ms. Chen Jinfeng in the Lumber Processing Factory family quarters on the morning of June 10, 2021. Ms. Chen did not open the door. The officers tried to open the door with a key they had. They left after failing to open it.
Ms. Chen was once subjected to forced labor, twice sentenced to prison, and tortured on numerous occasions. As a result, her health deteriorated significantly. She cannot take care of herself, cannot live a normal life, has no labor insurance wages, and has no source of income.
Mr. Guo Libin and Ms. Chen Xitao were arrested and their homes were ransacked. Ms. Fu Zhaocui was arrested. The police confiscated a large amount of cash and printed materials. She was released on bail.
