(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 24 cities or counties in 13provinces, where at least 42 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Zhao Yunxia was arrested on September 8, 2019, and then held at the Taiyuan City No. 4 Detention Center. It was recently learned that she was sentenced to four years in prison.
Wei Ruizhi (gender unknown), 90, was harassed at home by two officers from the Ping’ancheng Town Police Station, led by Pingsan Village village committee member Xiao Changjun, on May 7, 2021.
Ms. Tan Chunmin was harassed on the morning and afternoon of May 19 and 20, 2021.
Mr. Zheng Weigang escaped arrest in his apartment around 9:00 p.m. on May 24, 2021. Officers from the Mengyang Town Police Station drove to his place and beat on his door, attempting to break in. Because the door was sturdy, they did not succeed but the window was smashed.
Ms. Li Ailing was arrested at her home in Shouguang City by officers from the Baocheng Street Police Station on a morning around May 20, 2021. Police detained her in the Changle County Detention Center for 10 days.
Ms. Song Xiaofang’s family lost contact with her on May 26, 2021. They learned she was arrested the next day.
Mr. Hong Chang was arrested by officers from the Shangtang Police Station on April 23, 2021, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
The Gongshu District Procuratorate is processing the application for his arrest warrant.
Ms. Yu Yanju’s husband was forced to register his wife’s personal information with the Sandongqiao Police Station on May 7, 2021. Due to the mounting pressure, his blood pressure increased and he had symptoms of a heart condition. Two days later, he suddenly lost his hearing and was admitted to the hospital.
While he was hospitalized he received a harassing phone call from the police station on May 27, 2021. The officer demanded he give them more personal information about his wife.
Ms. Yang Xiuzhi, in her 70s, was harassed at home by officers, Wang Xiaodong and Zhu Likun, of Wohongqiao area after 7:00 a.m. on May 22, 2021. The officers pounded on her door. When her husband opened the door, they rushed in. An officer began videotaping using his cell phone. Ms. Yang stopped him. The officers subsequently harassed Ms. Song Shurong and other practitioners.
Police and community clerks tried to force practitioners and their family members to sign guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong. They are demanding that their family members videotape inside practitioners’ homes.
Ms. Yu Hong was harassed at home by Yucai Community committee director Li Guilian and others after 8:00 a.m. on November 21, 2020. They subsequently made several harassing calls.
She was harassed at home by village head on April 14, 2021. The village head claimed leaders ordered practitioners had to sign three statements renouncing Falun Gong. He threatened her and said bad things would happen to her if she did not cooperate.
Several officers and community clerks banged on her door after 7:00 p.m. on May 26, 2021. The loud noise shocked her neighbors and frightened her bedridden father. They later made a harassing call.
Mr. Yang Zheng was harassed on May 27, 2021. Officers from the Daodi Town Police Station went to his home at 4:00 p.m. He was not there. They returned after 6:00 p.m., and asked if he had Falun Gong flyers, etc.
Zhang Shujie (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Lanling Police Station on the morning of May 28, 2021. Zhang was reported for distributing Falun Gong flyers in an open market.
Police went to Ms. Cao Yanwen’s home after 8:00 p.m. on May 13, 2021. No one was at home. An officer then called her husband and asked where they were.
Police went to Ms. Feng Xiuzhi’s home to harass her at the same time.
Ms. Li Yajie’s home was ransacked on May 11, 2021. Police seized her Falun Gong books and gave her 13 days detention. She was released on May 25.
Gu Yanping (gender unknown) was also detained.
Officers from the Chaoyang Police Station went to the home of Mr. Zhao Yongcai’s mother around May 12, 2021. They questioned his mother, asked where her son was and demanded his phone number. His mother refused to answer their questions.
Ms. Guo Xiumei and her husband (non-practitioner) were arrested around May 13, 2021. Ms. Guo is being held at the Jilin City Detention Center. Her husband was released.
Ms. Li Dexiang was arrested by officers from the Binhe Road Police Station and clerks from her community on April 14, 2021. She has since been held at the Jinchuan District Detention Center. Her family went to the police station and asked why she was arrested. They said she was reported by her first and second floor neighbors.
Ms. Li has practiced Falun Gong for more than twenty years and was incarcerated for more than ten years in prisons, forced labor camps, and detention centers for her belief.
Ms. Feng Shuzhi was harassed by a village committee member on the evening of May 26, 2021. She was ordered to call a police station and renounce Falun Gong. She refused.
Ms. He Binying’s daughter received a harassing call from a Jinyangli Community clerk on May 26, 2021. A clerk demanded her daughter to pressure Ms. He into signing three statements renouncing Falun Gong. She claimed if Ms. He did not sign, her grandson’s education would be jeopardized. If she agreed to sign, community clerks would come to witness it. She was in her daughter’s home in northeast and taking care of her granddaughter. Both Ms. He and her daughter refused to cooperate.
Ms. Yang Xiufang was repeatedly harassed. The Jinlongli Community clerks deceived her son and used him as a hostage. She was forced to go to the community office but refused to sign the paper renouncing Falun Gong. The clerks went to her home and demanded she has her blood drawn for a blood sample. They said they would stay there until they got it.
Ms. Liu Deqin, Ms. Tang (first name unknown), and Ms. You Hong was arrested on March 23, 2021. They were held and interrogated in the Wangjia Hotel. Four people stayed with them and closely monitored them 24 hours a day until they were transferred to the Zhenjiang City Detention Center on March 29. Ms. Liu was released on bail. Ms. Tang and Ms. You were detained for five days.
Ms. Zhu Chengxia, 70, was arrested by officers waiting beside her door when she and her husband came home around 9:00 p.m. on April 29, 2020. The officers seized their keys, ransacked their home, and confiscated two copiers and other items.
On May 8, she was sentenced to a one-year-and-nine-month prison. She is being held in the Fifth Ward, Nantong Women’s Prison.
Ms. Ju Guilan of Qianguo County was harassed at home by the village CCP secretary Wang Zhanjun and others on the afternoon of May 26, 2021. They ordered her to sign three statements renouncing Falun Gong. When she firmly refused Wang signed it for her. They cornered her and tried to photograph her. She stopped them.
Several practitioners were harassed by officers from the local Domestic Security Division and police stations just before May 13, 2021. Mr. Xie Huiliang of Yunlu Town, Mr. Cai Yonghua of Putian Town, and a practitioner from the Rongcheng District, whose nickname was veg and fruits aunt, were among those harassed.
Wang Shuzhen (gender unknown) of Zaoqiang County was harassed at home by two officers from the Chengguan Town Police Station on the morning of May 12, 2021. They questioned if Wang still practiced Falun Gong and tried to photograph and audiotape at the scene.
Ms. An Xiuping of Zaoqiang County was harassed at home by three officers from the Chengguan Town Police Station recently.
Ms. Lu Meixiang of Suiyang Town received a harassing call from officer Jia Ning of Linye Police Station at 4:00 p.m. on May 15, 2021.
She was harassed at home on May 18 by Jia and another officer, Zhang Dapeng. The officers came with videotape equipment.
She was again harassed at home between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on May 24 by Jia and officer Wang Zhaoyou from the Linye Domestic Security Division.
Ms. Hao Yuxiang and Ms. Zhang Shufang were harassed at their homes around 11:00 a.m. on May 18, 2021, by officers from the Linye Police Station.
Mr. Jiang Qixiang's family in Yun County was harassed every day by officers from the local police station around mid-May 2021. The officers ordered them to write guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong.
Mr. Yang Jiamin was arrested and given administrative detention by officers from the Jiang’an District Police Department on May 25, 2021. The detention center did not admit him because of the pandemic. The officers then held him in a building on Baibuting Road.
Ms. Dou Quiqin was harassed at home by four officers, including Chang Liming, from the Gulin Street Police Station around 8:00 p.m. on May 25, 2021. They ordered her to sign three statements renouncing Falun Gong. She refused. They spent an hour in vain trying to coerce her.
Ms. Yan Meiying was harassed and photographed at her home by three officers from the Chengguan Police Station after 7:00 p.m. on May 13, 2021.
At 5:00 p.m. on May 17, 2021, three officers from the Chengguan Police Station knocked on the door of Ms. Li Xiuzhen’s home. No one answered. They had village cadre Wang Suxia knock on the door for about half an hour. Still, no one answered. They waited for another hour before they left. They returned at 8:00 p.m. and knocked on the door again.
Mr. Xia Aishu was harassed at home by two officers from the Chengguan Police Station after 3:00 p.m. on May 18, 2021.
Mr. Ren Yinhai was harassed by three plainclothes officers from the Chengguan Police Station after 3:00 p.m. on May 19, 2021. They pointed to a pair of Falun Gong couplets posted on his door and said, “Do you still practice this?” Then, “Tear them off!” And, “How many years have you practiced?”
Ms. Gao Shuyun's daughter was phoned by an officer from the Wangpo Police Station on May 15, 2021. The officer questioned if her mother still practiced Falun Gong and asked for her mother’s phone number. The daughter refused.
Officers from the Wangpo Police Station went to Ms. Liu Shucui’s home on May 19, 2021. She did not open her door for them.
Several practitioners were recently harassed. Clerks from communities and officers from police stations went to practitioners’ homes, photographed, and forcefully took them to police station, where they collected practitioners’ fingerprints, and blood samples, and tried to coerce them into signing statements renouncing Falun Gong, etc.
Ms. Li Wei, 74, was harassed by officers from the Yutan Police Stations.
Ms. Zhang Yulan, 84, was taken to the Yutan Police Station by force. Officers collected her fingerprints and blood sample and ordered her to sign a police record. She was released three hours later.
Ms. Tan Juanyun was illegally detained for eight days. After she was released on May 12, 2021, she was harassed at home by several officers. She chose to leave home rather than face persecution.
Ms. Deng Ximei, in her 60s, was repeatedly harassed at home by agents from the Batang Town government and officers from the Batang Police Station. Each time they came to her home, they photographed her against her will.
Ms. Jiang Li has been repeatedly harassed since 2020 by officers from the Huanxi Township Police Station. The Jilin City 610 Office set up a brainwashing center in Jinqiao Hotel and launched zero-out and knock-door events. She was harassed during each event.
Three officers broke into her home on December 7, 2020, and ordered her to sign a paper renouncing Falun Gong. She refused. The officers threatened to take her to the brainwashing center.
Several days later, two clerks from the township came to her home. She was out. They ordered her husband to sign for her. He refused. They claimed they would talk to her in person. They photographed her husband.
Mr. Li Haichun was harassed at home and ordered to sign documents renouncing Falun Gong four times in 2020. On December 19, 2020, two unknown people were led by a villager and went to his home at noon. They questioned his name, if he had any premises permit or use permit for his home, etc.
Seven practitioners were frequently harassed. The harassers also tried to force their family members to sign a printed form for them.
