(Minghui.org) Five Falun Dafa practitioners from two families held activities in front of the Chinese Embassy in Ottawa on April 24, 2021, to commemorate the April 25 Appeal peacefully. They also protested the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) ongoing persecution.
Five practitioners protested the persecution and commemorated the April 25 Appeal.
Two witnesses recalled the peaceful appeal on April 25, 22 years ago. They also called for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong, and condemned the CCP for hiring gangsters to destroy the truth clarification site in Hong Kong.
Many passing drivers honked or gave practitioners thumbs up to express their support. Some passersby wished practitioners success in their effort to end the persecution.
William Wang is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Northeastern China. In July 1999, CCTV scheduled to broadcast a film that slandered Falun Gong. Some Falun Gong practitioners in nearby cities, William among them, went to the CCTV station to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. He was asked to leave a copy of his identification card.
To his surprise, CCTV described the peaceful visit as an attack and used it as evidence to persecute Falun Gong. William appealed again to the National Appeals Office in Beijing, but was detained for more than 50 days.
After William came to Canada, he peacefully protested the persecution at the Chinese Embassy every week. “I cherish the opportunity to stand here on a piece of free land,” he said, “To call for the end to the persecution. When people know about the CCP’s evil nature and know how compassionate and tolerant Falun Gong practitioners are, they will select justice.
Mr. Wang Yang, a senior engineer, recalled the April 25, 1999 appeal, and called for an end to the persecution.
Mr. Wang Yang, a senior engineer, was taken to and persecuted in a forced labor camp in China because of his belief in Falun Gong.
Mr. Wang said that the persecution is still going on. There were at least 414 reported cases of Falun Gong practitioners being illegally arrested. Among them, 37 people were tortured to death. As a Falun Gong practitioner who personally experienced the persecution, he is very well aware of the brutality of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Therefore, he wanted to raise his voice to help stop the torture and killing.
He said that the CCP hopes all the protesters would disappear, and has come up with many methods to silence the protesters. So it is important to stand up and persist in the protest.
Speaking about persistence, Mr. Wang said, Falun Gong practitioners have remained peaceful facing persecution and injustice since the CCP initiated its persecution of this cultivation practice. The unwavering compassion and justice will continue until success is experienced.
Mr. Wang said, “If you do not stop the CCP’s persecution, it will spread its violence to your doorstep eventually.”
“For example,” he said, “Hong Kong used to be a piece of free land. However, the freedom in Hong Kong no longer exists. The CCP has hired gangsters to destroy the truth-clarification booth of Falun Gong, and destroyed the printing factory of the Epoch Times, a media who dares to tell the truth. If we all don’t stand up and speak out, this evil will spread from Hong Kong to the rest of the world. So we have to make the world recognize the evil nature of the CCP.”
