(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 33 cities or counties in 16 provinces, where at least 62 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Falun Gong practitioners are being severely abused in Songjiang Women’s Prison. Each practitioner who has refused to be “transformed” is being monitored by three “designated inmates.” These practitioners are subjected to various inhuman abuses such as standing or squatting down for extended hours. If they cannot stand up straight, the inmates beat them.
These “designated inmates” do not allow practitioners to sleep. If a practitioner dozes off, the inmates start beating, threatening, or cursing and abusing her. Among the practitioners is a retired school principal who is abused inhumanly every day.
Ms. Wang Chunping from the Haidian District was released on bail on February 8, 2021.
Her daughter Ms. Zen Miao and son-in-law Mr. Zhang Shida have been officially placed under arrest.
In 2015, Mr. Yang Guoshu was sentenced to five years in prison. After his release, he asked for and received pension payments that had been deducted during the time he was held in prison.
Later, the Shulan City Social Security wanted to take back these pension payments. Mr. Yang refused to return what he received. The social security bureau resorted to deducting money from his pension each month to reclaim the payments he received while he was imprisoned.
Ms. Piao Fenyu, 72, who is of Korean ethnicity, was arrested at home on July 18, 2020. She was taken to the Longmen Police Station but was released for health reasons the same day. She was taken to the Yanji City Detention Center in November by personnel from the procuratorate and the police station. She returned home that day by holding righteous thoughts.
Ms. Cai Renzi, 72, who is of Korean ethnicity, was arrested at home by community staff members, neighbors, and police officers in December 2020. She was taken to the Yanji Brainwashing Center, where she was forced to press her fingerprints on a sheet of paper, the content of which she did not know. She was released three days later.
Ms. Zhang Guixiang was arrested by officers from the Chuncheng Street Police Station in the Luyuan District on the morning of October 20, 2020.
She was transferred to the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center after being held in the Weizigou Detention Center for 10 days.
Her family received notice of her arrest issued by the Chaoyang District Procuratorate on November 13.
Mr. Zhao Ximin from Huzhu Village, Wukeshu Town, was arrested on January 4, 2021, by seven officers from the Yushu City Domestic Security Division as part of its “zero-out” campaign. Officers pressured him to sign paperwork and photographed him. He did not cooperate. Instead he clarified the facts to them. He was taken home by the officers that day.
Ms. Shen Guixiang was arrested by agents from the Jiajiang County 610 Office on February 6, 2021. She was detained for 15 days. Her family brought her home at the end of the term. At home, she found that even the 100 yuan in cash she’d put under a ceramic tile had been taken by the officers. Over 100 yuan in paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them were taken by the officers when her bag was searched. The remaining cash deposited into the detention center will not be returned to her.
When she left the detention center, she was told to sign paperwork. She wrote a brief statement: “Behave according to Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance” and then signed her name.
Ms. Guo Tingying was held with Ms. Shen in the detention center.
Ms. Yi Qunren and Mr. Wang Xianshu from Qifeng Town were arrested on April 30, 2020. They were held in custody. Both practitioners were tried by the Lu County Court on September 1. They were each sentenced to four years in prison and each fined 10,000 yuan on December 21. They appealed on December 28.
On July 5, 2017, Mr. Wang was sentenced to three years in prison by the Zhaotong City Court, Yunnan Province.
On November 4, 2014, Ms. Yi was sentenced to four years in prison by the Lu County Court.
Two SWAT Team officers from the Jiahe Police Station went to 64-year-old Ms. Chen Rong’s home around 9 a.m. on October 18, 2020. Ms. Chen was not there. The officers asked her family for her phone number, but they refused to give it.
The officers threatened that if Ms. Chen insisted on practicing Falun Gong, it would impact her grandson’s enrollment in graduate and Ph.D. programs.
Ms. Yang Sufang is 71 years old. Her son received harassing calls from the Jiahe Police Station in the second half of 2020.
Ms. Wen Yuxiu and Ms. Zhang Yulian were arrested by Shapotou Police Department officers on October 24, 2020. The two practitioners are now under surveillance.
Four officers from the Daizongfang Police Station in the Taishan District went to the home of Ms. Li Suping, 63, at the No. 2 Retreat for Senior Officials in the Military on the morning of February 1, 2021. They pressured her to sign paperwork, but she refused to. They ransacked the place and confiscated several booklets and two DVDs. They repeatedly pressured her to sign paperwork. She never complied.
Ms. Liu Guilian, in her 70s, is a retired teacher from Shandong Agricultural University. Seven officers ransacked her home on February 5, 2021. They did not find anything they wanted.
Nine practitioners from Haiyang City were arrested on January 9, 2021. Among them, Ms. Wang Xuemei, Ms. Wang Juan, and Ms. Sui Weili were released on bail on February 8 after being held in custody for one month. Mr. Zhang Jiguo, Mr. Zhang Junfeng, Mr. Yu Haiyong, Mr. Wang Chenggang, Ji Lixiao (gender unknown), and Ms. Liang Yaomin were officially placed under arrest. Ms. Liang is being held in the Yantai City Detention Center.
Mr. Wang Fengxian was also officially placed under arrest.
Ms. Li Yanxia from Tangxia Town was arrested at home by Tianxin Police Station officers around 2 p.m. on February 8, 2021. She was held in the Tangxia Police Department Law Enforcement and Case Handling Center. Officer Chen contacted her family at 7 p.m. the following day and notified them of her detention.
According to the notice, Ms. Li was criminally detained by the Dongguan Police Department at 12 p.m. on February 9. She was held in the Dongguang City No. 2 Detention Center. At that time, however, Ms. Li was being held in the Law Enforcement Center of Tangxia Police Department.
The door to her home was sealed by the Tianxin Police Station.
Ms. Li Zhongye, in her 70s, was arrested by officers from the Guanqian Street Police Station on May 14, 2020. She was later released on bail. Her case was turned over to the Wujiang City Procuratorate on August 13. She was tried in the Wujiang District Court at 1 p.m. on February 8, 2021. She was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 1,000 yuan.
Ms. Xu Zhufen, Ms. Xu Huini, and Ms. Wang Wenjuan were each sentenced to one year and ten months in prison in late January 2021.
Several practitioners and their family members in the Xian’an District were harassed in recent days.
When Mr. Yang Qiangxian’s son returned home from another province, community members came to the door on the grounds of looking into the epidemic and tried to force Mr. Yang to give up practicing Falun Gong.
Four or five people from the local police station and the Galvanized Pipes Factory Residential Community broke into the home of a young couple, Mr. Lou and Ms. Wang, without showing any documents.
They pressured the couple to sign paperwork renouncing Falun Gong. They threatened that if they persisted in practicing Falun Gong, it would adversely impact the future of their children and grandchildren.
In addition, the head of the 610 Office and community members have repeatedly approached Ms. Shang Xiuying’s husband and daughter-in-law to force Ms. Shang to give up her belief.
Ms. Yang Chengyun, in her 60s, an employee of the Gezhouba Electromechanical Company, was arrested by officers from the Pinghu Domestic Security Division on November 25, 2020. They ransacked her home in the Xiling District and confiscated a computer, a printer, and printed materials. She was released on bail on November 26. She learned on December 26 that the officers and community members were planning to take her to a brainwashing center.
Ms. Yang was arrested and taken to the Wujiagang Brainwashing Center by personnel from the Xiling District Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the Pinghu Domestic Security Division, including officer Xu Hong, in January 2021.
In the brainwashing center, she was forced to watch videos slandering Dafa every day and pressured to write three statements.
Ms. Yang went on a hunger strike in protest. Her health drastically deteriorated. When she was on the verge of death, she returned home.
Ms. Sun Dongmin and Ms. Sun Junying were officially placed under arrest by the Hanyang District Procuratorate at the end of January 2021.
Ms. Liu Qingrong, in her 60s, and Dai Aiming (gender unknown) were arrested by Yao Xuejun and other officers from the Hong’an County State Security Division while the two practitioners were talking to people about Falun Gong around 4 p.m. on February 9, 2021. It is not clear where they are being held.
Ms. Mo Lichun was posting materials that said, “Falun Dafa is great! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is great!” on the afternoon of February 5, 2021, when a man grabbed her. Seven or eight people soon arrived at the scene. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Wang Yuqing, 78, from the Xixiu District was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong in September 2020. She was released on bail.
She was arrested again on October 28. The Xixiu District Procuratorate issued an arrest warrant. She has been held in the Xixiu District No. 2 Detention Center. Her family was notified that she would be tried on February 24, 2021.
Personnel from the Qingxin Community in the Baiheshanzhuang area, High-tech Park, called Ms. Tang Lihua’s husband around 4:30 p.m. on February 1, 2021, and left orders for Ms. Tang to come to the community office to write a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong. They claimed if she did this, her name would be removed from the CCP's list of practitioners.
At around 10:30 a.m. on February 5, they called her husband and harassed him again.
Ms. Zhao Hongzhi, 81, was taken to the local police station in March 2020 and pressured to sign paperwork. The police went to her home in May and insisted she come to the police station.
In November, the officers told her son that she had to wait for them at home. Six people showed up. Ms. Zhao refused to sign any paperwork and clarified the facts to them instead.
Before 5 p.m. on December 31, two people from the court went to her home to deliver the verdict. Ms. Zhao was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan.
Ms. Wang Yanfang and her sister Ms. Wang Yanzhi were arrested by Weibin Police Station officers at noon on April 23, 2020. Their homes were ransacked. The women were taken to the Jintai Detention Center two days later and tried secretly on July 28. Ms. Wang Yanfang was released on September 28. Ms. Wang Yanzhi was sentenced to seven years in prison. A lawyer hired by her family later managed to get her sentenced reduced by one year and three months.
At present, four female practitioners remain in custody at the Shuangyashan City Detention Center. They are: Ms. Liu Rangfang (from Baoqing County), Ms. Yan Xihua (from the Jianshan District), Ms. Wang Xia (from Jixian County), and Ms. Qi Yuhong (from Jixian County).
Ms. Zhao Shubo (from the No. 291 Farm) and Ms. Niu Yujie (from Jixian County) have returned home.
Ms. Sun Ruitao was sentenced to one year in prison.
Mr. Liu Xiyong, 81, was sentenced to three years in prison. His term will end on April 8, 2021.
Party secretary Zhao Haizhen of Sunjiaxiaozhuang Village, deputy head Baiyongxing of Guoleizhuang Town, and someone else from the Wanquan District went to the home of practitioner Bai Youtao (gender unknown) on the morning of January 18, 2021. They pressured Bai to sign a repentance statement. They also told Bai’s supervisors at work to persuade Bai. Bai did not give in and refused to comply.
They then threatened to arrest Bai, if he or she did not sign their paperwork. They went to Bai’s home at 9 a.m. the following day and pounded on the door.
Ms. Wu Xiuying was arrested and her home was ransacked on February 2, 2021. Prior to this, the police had been following her. After discovering that she was using paper currency with Falun Gong information printed on it, they arrested her in an attempt to pressure her for the source of the paper bills.
She was previously taken to forced labor camps and sentenced to prison several times for refusing to stop practicing Falun Gong. Officials overseeing the persecution suspended her retirement salary last year, which left her in extreme financial difficulties.
Ms. Zhang Suping was arrested in mid-January 2021. She was held in the Chiping Detention Center.
Ms. Luo Jiaqiong was sentenced to six months in prison and fined 5,000 yuan after she distributed Falun Gong materials. She returned home on February 9, 2021.
The No. 4 Detention Center contacted community and local police station personnel to take her to the police station and community office, where she was pressured to fill out several forms, including the three statements.
Ms. Mo Liqiong distributed Falun Gong materials in the Xiashankou area in Yangjiaqiao Town on the evening of February 5, 2021. A stranger grabbed her by the hand. He held her tightly and refused to let her go. Her whereabouts have since remained unknown.
Mr. Luo Guobing was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. He was arrested on February 4, 2021. The police ransacked his home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and Falun Dafa books. He was taken to the Nan County Detention Center.
During his detention, his son talked to the authorities through friends at the police station. On February 10, Mr. Luo was fined 500 yuan and then allowed to return home.
Three plainclothes officers went to Mr. Pu Yuansheng’s home on February 4 and 5, 2021. They deceived him and entered his home. They arrested him and ransacked the place. They did not find anything they were looking for.
They claimed that Mr. Pu was seen on video surveillance cameras when he distributed Falun Gong materials. When the videos were reviewed, he was obviously not there. Despite their falsified charges, Mr. Pu was still taken to the detention center.
Mr. Pu’s case was turned over to the procuratorate. After investigating and verifying, the procuratorate ruled not to authorize his arrest. Mr. Pu returned home on February 9 and was placed under residential surveillance.
Ms. Jian Fenglan from Cuijia Village, Qingyun Town, was reported to the police by villagers for talking to people about Falun Gong some time ago. Officers from the Dongxindian Town Police Station went to her home and harassed her several times.
Each time they came, they threatened Ms. Jian and forced Ms. Jian to submit to a physical exam at the county hospital. Every time she was released due to multiple illnesses. The officers threatened her each time before they left her home.
The officers have repeatedly harassed her and her family, traumatizing them.
36. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Guijun and Wife Ms. Liu Junying Displaced
Mr. Wang Guijun and his wife Ms. Liu Junying from Xingshugang Town, Honggang District, refused to sign the bail notice.
Officer Fan Yu from the Honggang District Police Department and officers from the Xingshugang Police Station went to the couple’s home on January 28 and February 4, 2021, and attempted to arrest them. The couple was not at home. They later had to leave town and became displaced.
Mr. Li Zhigang’s family recently received a notice of his arrest dated February 5, 2021. It was reported that Mr. Li was being held in the Changsha City No. 1 Detention Center. His current physical condition is poor.
