(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 37 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Yi Xiaoqin was arrested on July 10, 2019, and was later said that the arrest was a mistake. However, she still suffered persecution. She was tried in court on December 12, 2020, and was sentenced to six and a half years in prison
Ms. Li Chunyan was detained for four years from 2002 to 2006 because of her spiritual belief, Falun Gong.
She was arrested and subjected to forced labor in 2007 when she distributed truth-clarifying materials while she and her husband visited their hometown. She was persecuted so badly in the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp that her lower limbs were paralyzed and she became disoriented. She was released later because she was diagnosed with Hepatitis B.
Ms. Li and her husband were arrested in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 2009. She was sentenced to seven years in prison and was detained in Xinjiang Women’s Prison.
Ms. Li was arrested by officers from the Tiexi Police Station in Nanshan District in 2018 and was later sentenced to five years in prison by the Xing’an District Court. She was detained in Harbin Women’s Prison. After the Chinese New Year of 2021, Ms. Li called her family. It was the first time she contacted her family after being detained for nearly three years.
Ms. Bai Jinfang, 78, from Donggang District, was placed in detention on January 13, 2021, and was tried in court 15 days later. During the trial she was handcuffed and fettered and seemed dispirited. She was later sentenced to four months in prison and was fined 2000 yuan.
Her family tried to bail her out. The request was granted by Dandong Prison but officer Li from the Gushan Police Station who was in charge of the case, denied their request.
Seven practitioners from the Dongchangfu District were arrested from October 16, 2020, to January 20, 2021. They are Chen Jun, Ms. Hua Liqin and her husband, Ms. Sun Xiu’e, Ms. Li Guihua, Zhang Liang, and Xu Shaohua. Four of them, Chen Jun, Ms. Hua Liqin, Ms. Sun Xiu’e, and Ms. Li Guihua, will be tried in the Dong’a Court in March.
Ms. Zhang Qiaolei will be tried in Liuhe Court on the morning of March 16, 2021.
Mr. Xia Zhanwen from Shaoguo Town was harassed recently by members of the county Political and Legal Affairs Committee and was told to attend a brainwashing class.
Mr. Li Yugen and his wife Ms. Liu Xinhe in their 70s were reported to the police when they distributed truth-clarifying materials and were arrested in the Chaoyang District in mid-February 2020. Their home was ransacked. Their Dafa books, photo of Falun Gong's founder, truth-clarifying materials, and computer were taken away. They were released the next on bail pending trial.
The couple was informed by officers from the Donghu Police Station in early February 2021 that their cases were filed with the Chaoyang District Procuratorate and they were under official arrest. Because of their high blood pressure during the physical exam, they were allowed to be released on bail pending trial by the procuratorate.
After nine practitioners were arrested by officers from the Linquan County Police Department, the Dongguan Police Station, the Beiguan Police Station, the Xincheng Police Station, the Yangqiao Police Station, and the Tanpeng Police Station, their homes were ransacked. Here are the details about the home raids conducted on June 12, 2020.
Ms. Wang Mingzhi’s home was ransacked on the afternoon of June 12, 2020. The items taken from Ms. Wang Mingzhi’s home were: 112 Dafa books and magazines, 19 truth-clarifying flyers, 17 cards, and 87 CDs.
Sun Chuanfu's (gender unknown) home was ransacked around 9 p.m. on June 12, 2020. The items taken from Sun’s home were: 10 Dafa books, 835 truth-clarifying flyers, 120 stickers, and one Falun Gong keepsake.
Sun Yuhe's (gender unknown) home was ransacked around 9 p.m. on June 12, 2020. The items from Sun’s home were as follows: 73 Dafa books, 41 Falun Gong keepsakes, one flyer, one sticker, and one photo of Falun Gong founder.
Ms. Wang Lanying’s home was ransacked around 6 p.m. on June 12, 2020. The items taken from Ms. Wang’s home were: one laptop, 10 printers, 2 DVD burners, 3 paper cutters, 3 binding machines, 2 sealing machines, 1132 truth-clarifying booklets, 1808 flyers, 425 desk calendars, 17 CDs, 17 bills with truth-clarifying words, 6069 yuan of cash, and consumable items such as toner cartridges, printing paper, plastic envelops, plastic films, etc. No checklists were issued for the items taken from her home.
Mr. Qi Xulian and his wife from Hangang Town drove to visit their son on March 7, 2021. They were arrested around 3 p.m. at the entrance of Wenshang Expressway when they were stopped for an ID check. Six Dafa books and one laptop were taken from them. The couple were first taken to the Wenshang Police Station and later to the Hangang Police Station in Liangshan County. Their home was ransacked. They were later released.
Ms. Xu Yuanzhao in her seventies lives in Sanxing Town, Jintang County. She was harassed at home by four officers on March 3, 2021. They asked her where her Dafa books were and her phone number. She has been harassed multiple times in the past.
The case against Ma Yan (gender unknown) from Lushunkou District was filed to the Ganjingzi Court by the Ganjingzi Procuratorate on March 1, 2021. She was notified that she would be under residential surveillance for six months.
The daughter of Ms. Jiao Li was harassed by officers from the Jinhe Town Police Station in the Beilin District in early March 2021. They tried to get Ms. Jiao’s address and other personal information and they demanded that Ms. Jiao sign the guarantee statement.
Ms. Huo Zhifang was arrested by officers from the Zhongguancun Police Station on March 7, 2021. She was taken to the Haidian District Detention Center the next day.
Ms. Huo was arrested by officers from the Huayuan Road Police Station in February 2020 for posting truth-clarifying materials. She has been detained for 14 days.
Ms. Huang Yumei, 78, was harassed at home on March 1, 2021. Four or five officers from the Linhu Police Station including the director Liu Kaiyou and Wu Ping, came to her home and demanded that she signed the three statements, which Ms. Huang refused.
Ms. Huang was harassed at home again on March 2, 2021. Several people from the local community, the sub-district office, and Captain Cao from the Daguan District Domestic Security Division came to her home. Ms. Huang still refused to comply with their demands to sign the three statements.
Ms. Huang was harassed at home once again on March 5, 2021. Four officers including Bao Sheng, head of the Linhu Police Station, Liu Kaiyou, director of the police station, Liu Ping from the police station, and an officer from the Daguan District Domestic Security Division, came and forcefully searched her home. They took away the photo of Falun Gong's founder which was hanging on the wall.
Ms. Wang Yanjie and Ms. Li Guizhi from Xinmin District were arrested on January 20, 2021. They have been detained in the detention center for more than 50 days. The families of both practitioners came to the No.1 Detention Center on the morning of March 8, 2021, and requested permission to have the lawyer visit the clients. Their request was rejected.
Three practitioners with the surnames Dai, Wang and Dai were arrested on July 13, 2020, for distributing truth-clarifying materials in Jiantaizi Village. Their homes were ransacked. They were released on bail pending trial.
The cases against the three practitioners were filed to the Dengta Procuratorate by the Dengta Police Department on September 29, 2020. Procurator Hu Yuanfen filed the case with the Dengta City Court on October 28, 2020.
Ms. Xia Chunfeng from Changyingdi, Chaoyang District, was under 24-hour residential surveillance starting on March 1, 2021. The surveillance was conducted by the Changying Township Police Station and the local sub-district office.
