(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xining City, Qinghai Province] Ms. Bao Shenglian and Ms. Zhang Xuemei Arrested

Ms. Bao Shenglian in her 50s was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division on the morning of August 27, 2020. Her home was ransacked. Ms. Zhang Xuemei was also arrested on the same day.

Ms. Bao Shenglian is now under official arrest. Her husband was under great pressure and lost more than 30 lbs. of weight. He died of a myocardial infarction at home on January 13, 2021.

2. [Hanchuan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Xiao Yanfang and Mr. Liu Yibo Face Trial

Ms. Xiao Yanfang and Mr. Liu Yibo were arrested on November 11, 2020. Their cases were filed with the Hanchuan Procuratorate by the Hanchuan Police Department at the end of December 2020. Their cases were transferred to the Xiaochang Procuratorate on January 12, 2021. Ms. Xiao’s lawyer came to the Hanchuan Detention Center on January 21, 2021 to meet with Ms. Xiao for a second virtual meeting. When her lawyer came to the Xiaochang Procuratorate that afternoon, he learned that her case had been sent to the Xiaochang Court. 

3. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Hongshu Harassed Again

Mr. Wang Hongshu was paralyzed due to the persecution and was unable to walk. On January 21, 2021, his family member received a harassing call from officer Yang Peng from the Nanyang Lake Police Station, Yuhong District. He ordered Mr. Wang to come to the police station for an inquiry. 

Mr. Yang was taken to the police station by his family and carried to Yang Peng’s office on January 22, 2021 to be interrogated. 

4. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Kuanfen Arrested

Ms. Yang Kuanfen, in her 60s. was arrested on the morning of January 25, 2021 when she clarified the truth on the street. It is not clear where she is now.

5. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Di Shaoqun Detained for Over a Year

Mr. Di Shaoqun was arrested at home by officers from the Hongwei District Domestic Security Division on November 19, 2019. His home was ransacked. According to records, the following Dafa-related materials were found in his home: three copies of Zhuan Falun, three copies of Hong Yin, 1 Falun badge, 4 wall posters containing the Chinese character for “Happiness,” and 1 photo of Falun Gong's founder. 

Mr. Di has been detained for one year and two months since the arrest. He was scheduled to be tried on August 13, 2020. The trial has been delayed. 

6. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sui Yuxian Harassed

Ms. Sui Yuxian from Songcun Town was harassed at home in August 2020. Town officials came to her home and tried to make her give up practicing Falun Gong. They photographed her home and threatened her with her children’s future.

7. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Mr. He Pengfei Harassed

Mr. He Pengfei was sentenced to five and a half years in prison in 2015 and was released on December 20, 2020. Less than a week after he returned home, local police officer Lin Jun led some people from the local sub-district office and the local judicial office to his home. They left after finding that Mr. He and his family members were not at home. 

8. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Mr. Hu Enkui Possibly Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Hu Enkui from Yaohai District has been missing for over ten days. It is suspected that he has been taken to a brainwashing center. 

9. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Tao Xizhen Harassed Again

Ms. Tao Xizhen from Wenquan District was harassed at home again by local community staff members on January 21, 201. These people entered her home and tried to photograph it, but Ms. Tao stopped them.

10. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Zengkui and Ms. Liu Bobin Face Trial

Mr. Liu Zengkui and Ms. Liu Bobin from Xiangfang District were arrested on September 22, 2020. Their case has been transferred to the Daoli District Court. 

11. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Ms. Jiang Xiaomin and Mr. Li Xingnian Arrested

Ms. Jiang Xiaomin and her husband Mr. Li Xingnian were arrested at home on September 22, 2020. Shen Youfa, head of the Linjiang Domestic Security Division, and five other plainclothes officers broke into their home suddenly. They took away some personal belongings including two Dafa books, the photo of Falun Gong's founder, exercise tapes, and other items. 

The couple was taken to the basement of the police department for interrogation. Samples of their blood were taken for DNA tests. They were released around midnight. 

12. [Shaoyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Yuan Xiufeng and Ms. Zeng Liaoyuan Arrested and Detained

Ms. Yuan Xiufeng and Ms. Zeng Liaoyuan live in Yunshan Village, Gaosha Town, Dongkou County. They were arrested at home by village official Liu Dalu, the town police officer Xie Zhengbing and the head of the County Domestic Security Division, Tao, on January 20, 2021. The two practitioners were directly sent to the Shaoyang Detention Center. 

Both practitioners were arrested by officers from the Lixiqiao Police Station on July 10, 2020 for distributing truth-clarifying materials in Lixiqiao Town. They were released two days later. 

13. [Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Huina Arrested and Detained

Ms. Li Huina was arrested around New Year’s Day in 2021. She is currently detained in the Beiguan Detention Center. 

14. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Wang Haiyun Harassed

Ms. Wang Haiyun lives in the Xinglong City Garden Community in Xiaohe District, Guiyang City. She has been harassed at home twice by Director Duan and Dai Anjie from the local community office in April 2020. She was told to sign the three statements and was threatened with her grandson’s employment. She did not comply. They then went to harass her sister-in-law. 

Ms. Wang Haiyun was harassed again in December 2021. The head boss at her workplace received a harassment call from the Pingqiao Sub-district Office. He was told to cooperate with them to pressure Ms. Wang or her family members to sign the three statements. Later, officers from the Daxing Police Station came to Ms. Wang’s workplace to harass her. They recorded her employee information and her workplace information.

15. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Fan Zhigang Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

Mr. Fan Zhigang was sentenced to two years in prison in the first instance by Judge Li Fushan of the Lianshan District Court. Mr. Fan appealed to the Intermediate Court and the file was delivered on January 22, 2021. 

16. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Ji Cuiping Arrested

Ms. Ji Cuiping was reported to police and arrested by officers from the Huguan Town Police Station in Huqiu District on December 31, 2020. She was later released on bail. 

17. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Liu Wen Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Liu Wen from the Yuexiu District, works in the Rescue Workshop of the Locomotive Depot, Guangzhou Railway. He was forcefully taken from his workplace to a brainwashing center by several people on January 7, 2021. The brainwashing center is set up by the Yuexiu District Political and Legal Affairs Committee.
