Two Liaoning Women Arrested Before the Chinese New Year

Feb. 7, 2021 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) Two Xinmin City, Liaoning Province residents were arrested three weeks before the 2021 Chinese New Year for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Both Ms. Li Guizhi, 52, and Ms. Wang Yanjie, 57, were arrested outside of Ms. Li’s home on January 20, 2021. It’s reported that the Xinmin Police Department has ordered local police stations to harass and arrest local Falun Gong practitioners. Both women are now held the Hunnan No. 2 Detention Center.

Ms. Li’s husband, Mr. Zu Wei, has also gone missing since. It’s not clear whether he practices Falun Gong or whether he was also arrested.

Ms. Wang’s arrest caused tremendous mental pressure to her father and mother-in-law, both in their 80s and reliant on her for care. Ms. Wang had been preparing food for her mother-in-law. She didn’t have a chance to deliver the food to her before she was arrested on January 20.

Ms. Wang’s husband is also under a lot of pressure and having trouble eating. The couple’s one-year-old granddaughter is asking for her grandmother every day.
