(Minghui.org) A Beijing resident in her 60s was sentenced to 3.5 years on February 3, 2021 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Liang Xin was recorded on surveillance camera on June 16, 2020 distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police arrested her and ransacked her home on July 14.

On August 14, 2020, Ms. Liang’s arrest was approved and she was detained at the Dongcheng District Detention Center. The police submitted her case to the Dongcheng District Procuratorate on October 12.

Ms. Liang appeared in the Dongcheng District Court on January 15, 2021. Her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her. She also testified in her own defense. The judge Bai Chongwei sentenced her to 3.5 years with a 4,000 yuan fine on February 3.

In the persecution of Falun Gong, judge Bai has been involved in sentencing numerous practitioners, including Ms. Li Shuyun, who was sentenced to three years in early February 2021, and Ms. Li Ruiling, who was given two years in November 2020.
