(Minghui.org) A Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia resident serving time for practicing Falun Gong is being subjected to brutal torture aimed to force her to give up her faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhao Guichun, 54, has suffered repeated persecution in the past two decades for upholding her faith. She was first arrested in October 2000 for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and given two years at Tumuji Forced Labor Camp. After she was released, she was devastated to find that all valuable items at her home had been stolen. As the police continued to harass her, she was forced to move to another city to hide from the police.
In September 2010 and December 2011, Ms. Zhao was arrested two more times and detained at the Harqin Banner Detention Center. As she held a hunger strike to protest the persecution after her December 2011 arrest and began to vomit blood a month later, the police released her on bail, fearing that she might die in custody. After Ms. Zhao later recovered, the police attempted to arrest her again. Ms. Zhao went into hiding and was then put on the police’s wanted list.
After spending seven years on the run, Ms. Zhao was arrested on May 15, 2018. She was given a three-year sentence hours later and taken to the Inner Mongolia Women’s Prison.
In the past three years, the prison has been blocking her family from visiting her or calling her. Ms. Zhao was also restricted from calling home.
At 9 a.m. on October 11, 2019, Yue Tinging, head of the fifth ward, ordered 4-5 inmates to beat Ms. Zhao with the excuse that she refused to take unknown drugs as directed.
Her family recently learned from sources that she has been transferred from the Fifth Ward to the “strict management” team, where she is subjected to more severe torture and brainwashing that aims to force her to renounce Falun Gong.
Her family is calling on the international community to help rescue her.
