(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
It was reported the Ms. Li Guiying was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan in late August 2021. Ms. Wang Huafen was sentenced to six months in prison and fined 1,000 yuan in late August.
In the past few months, the Communist Party carried out a “zero-out” campaign, targeting Falun Gong practitioners. Police officers and community management personnel harassed practitioners and their families over the telephone. They also went to practitioners’ homes.
Community management personnel and police officers went to Ms. Zhou Yuxia’s home several times to intimidate and harass her. At the same time, they threatened her son and sowed discord among her family members. Ms. Zhou’s son quarreled vehemently with her trying to force her to give up practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Li Jinfeng was arrested on November 5, 2020. She was sentenced to three years in prison by the Yun’an District Court in May 2021. She appealed, and the original verdict was upheld in June. She will be taken to the Guangzhou Women’s Prison.
Mr. Liu Xiyong was taken to the Sanli Detention Center in Jinzhou District on April 9, 2021. Mr. Liu suffered from pleural effusion as a result of abuse and torture in the detention center. On September 3, the detention center took him to the Jinzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.
On September 27, the officer guarding Mr. Liu in the hospital said that Mr. Liu would be taken to prison on September 28, but he did not know which prison. Mr. Liu’s family still does not know where he is being held.
Ms. Yang Li was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 5,000 yuan by the Chaoyang District Court. Her lawyer received the verdict on October 12, 2021. When the lawyer asked whether Ms. Yang appealed, the court replied that they did not know yet, and the lawyer had to go to the detention center to ask her.
Mr. Fan Wei was arrested in August 2021 and his whereabouts were unknown for a while. It was later reported that he was held in the Huanren Detention Center and then transferred to the Benxi City Detention Center. In October 2021, it was reported that he was held in the Drug Rehabilitation Center of the Benxi City Detention Center.
It was reported that in July 2021, police officers broke into Mr. Fan Wei’s home. He was not at home at the time, and the officers confiscated his Falun Gong books. When Mr. Fan learned about it, he went to the police station and demanded his books be returned. The police instead arrested him and locked him up.
Ms. Hou Baoqin was arrested on June 3, 2021. She is currently held in the Qingdao City Detention Center. Her family learned about this based on information passed by someone in her cell. They are worried about her physical condition.
On September 8, 2021, a group of people from the Yangxin County Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the 610 Office went to Ms. Liu Donglan’s house. They knocked on the door but promptly left when no one opened it.
They later found where Ms. Liu’s husband worked and called him, asking for Ms. Liu’s whereabouts. They wanted to force her to write three statements and renounce Falun Gong. A few days later, they talked to the work unit official responsible for distributing Ms. Liu’s pension. The official called Ms. Liu’s daughter in Wuhan City and threatened that Ms. Liu’s pension would be deducted or suspended if she did not write the three statements.
During the “zero-out” campaign, practitioners Ke and Liu in the Yangxin area were also harassed at home.
Director He of the Mulin Town Armed Forces Department brought seven or eight people in plainclothes to Mafang Village at around 10:30 a.m. on October 12, 2021. They went with village Party secretary Li Ruxiang and village security director Ma Yuguang to Mr. Wang Guohai’s home and took him to the village office.
They pressured Mr. Wang to write three statements and sign paperwork. He refused to write or sign anything. This group of people did not allow him to go home. Mr. Wang’s daughter called Party secretary Li and director Ma of the village at 1 p.m. and asked why her father was not allowed to go home and where they took him. Under the insistence of his daughter, Mr. Wang was released and returned home around 1:30 p.m.
Ms. Lu Baolun, 60, returned to Guangzhou City at 10 p.m. on October 3, 2021, to visit her relatives. She was searched at the entrance of Maoming High-speed Railway Station and found to be carrying Hong Yin and three amulets. She was arrested by officers from the Maoming Station Police Station. The officers took her to the Gaoshan Police Station which was in charge of the area where she lived. They went to her home, ransacked the place, and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun. She was placed under administrative detention for five days at the Maoming City Detention Center. She returned home on October 8.
Ms. Liu Xuehua was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials in Landi Town at around 8 a.m. on October 6, 2021. Four officers from the Landi Police Station arrested her.
Shi Qiangwen led three other officers to her home and ransacked the place at 9 a.m. They confiscated her Falun Gong books. The officers pressured her to sign the paperwork, which she refused. She was released around 5 p.m. that day.
Elderly Ms. Wu Koudi from Yangpu District was monitored 24 hours a day for about a week around October 1, 2021, which marked the anniversary of the Communist takeover. As soon as Ms. Wu went out, two people in plain clothes immediately followed her. When she went to the market for grocery shopping the two people were with her.
Mr. He Binggang was recently arrested by domestic security officers.
Ms. Yang Cuijun was arrested at home by officers from the Ping’ancheng Town Police Station on October 12, 2021.
Ms. Gu Baohuan from Xixiaozhuang Village was arrested by officers from the same police station that night. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books. She is being held in the police station.
Mr. Liu Qingyu has been held in custody for about six months. The Zhanqian District Court in Yingkou City notified his lawyer that he would be tried in the Dashiqiao City Detention Center on the morning of October 22, 2021.
