Falun Dafa Practitioners Outside of China Benefit from the 18th China Fahui (Part 1)

Nov. 23, 2021 |   By Minghui correspondent Zhang Yun

(Minghui.org) To help with the cultivation of Falun Dafa practitioners in China, Minghui has been holding annual online China Experience-Sharing Conferences (China Fahui) since 2004. The 18th China Fahui was held between November 9 and 21, 2021, with 38 articles published on the Minghui website. While the articles were exclusively written by practitioners in mainland China, they have also greatly inspired practitioners outside of China to do better in their cultivation.

The published Fahui articles described how practitioners in China studied the Fa well and handled everything in accordance with Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They also showed how practitioners persisted in their cultivation and consistently improved themselves. Additionally, the articles gave a glimpse into how practitioners in China clarified the facts to save people amidst the ongoing persecution and the pandemic.

Toronto Practitioner Inspired by Elderly Practitioners in China

Mr. Wu, a young practitioner in Toronto, Canada, said he was most touched by two articles, including “85-year-old Woman Learns to Set Up Secure Computer System on Her Own” and “From Not Knowing How to Turn on a Computer to Producing Informational Materials.” Both articles were about elderly practitioners overcoming difficulties to learn computer skills and produce truth-clarification materials.

Mr. Wu said he resigned from his everyday job and joined the English Epoch Times team about one month ago because he wanted to have a better cultivation environment to motivate him to do better.

With a background in chemistry, he had been doing quality control before he quit his job. After he joined the Epoch Times, his responsibility is customer service and software back-end support. Mr. Wu said this was a big change for him, “In the past, I was a client treated well by suppliers, but now I have to address our newspaper subscribers’ questions politely. Sometimes I have to deal with angry customers.”

Another challenge is that he has no background in software system support. He said his attachment to comfort and saving face surfaced during the process. “Compared to my previous job, there are many things I have to learn and issues I have to resolve,” he explained, “every practitioner is so busy and they are unable to help me on the spot.” Occasionally, he was frustrated and wondered why he joined the Epoch Times in the first place.

When reading the above-mentioned articles, Mr. Wu was touched that an 85-year-old practitioner could overcome various difficulties to learn technical skills. “If she could persist with little help from others, why would a young man like me want to give up?” he said, “Plus, this is a great opportunity that Master Li (founder of Falun Dafa) has given me to improve myself, clarify the facts, and save people. Whatever I have encountered are related to my attachments and human notions that I should let go of anyway.”

Mr. Wu said he would focus on doing his job well instead of complaining or making the same mistakes again.

Montreal Practitioner Discovers His Selfishness

Mr. John Halas from Montreal, Canada, became a Falun Dafa practitioner in 2006. He said he had been mindful to align himself with Dafa principles in his daily life, but he realized that he still has hidden selfishness after reading a Fahui article titled “Looking Within to Eliminate Attachments During Conflicts.”

In the article, the author complained about being wronged by another practitioner and always tried to justify herself. Since things did not improve, she realized she should look inward based on Dafa principles to see how she could do better. As she identified one attachment after another, her xinxing kept improving and the conflict with the other practitioner was finally resolved.

Mr. Halas said that it had been hard for him to accept criticism from his wife, who doesn’t practice Falun Dafa. He always felt being wronged by his wife and never hesitated to defend himself. The above article made him realize his selfishness and a heart to protect himself and argue over who is right or wrong based on human notions. “In fact, being right or wrong on the human level is not important. The critical thing is using that opportunity as a reminder to look within and check where I can do better,” he said, “Whatever my wife says, I should accept that first. After all, a practitioner should be considerate of others instead of just oneself.”

This situation is not limited to family conflicts, he added. No matter what we encounter in cultivation practice, we need to ask ourselves: “why does this happen to me? Is there anything I should do to improve the situation?”

Danish Practitioner: Importance of Saving People

Ms. Jin is a practitioner in Denmark. From these Fahui articles, she could tell the authors had no attachment of fear in spite of the suppression. Instead, they are able to remain determined and fulfill the mission of saving people.

Two examples are “A Home Improvement Contractor’s Experience of Distributing Materials and Saving Sentient Beings” and “Remaining Peaceful and Steadfast – Falun Dafa Practitioner is Admired by Managers and Colleagues.” In both articles, the authors were ordered to renounce their belief, but they managed to persuade the perpetrators to change their attitudes about Dafa by sharing their personal experience of how Dafa had improved their health and uplifted their character.

As a result, a stubborn neighbor finally agreed to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its two junior organizations. A few officials who came to harass the practitioners during the “zero-out” campaign not only stopped threatening practitioners but also became interested in Falun Dafa. One author’s supervisors at work were also supportive. It is these practitioners’ righteous thoughts and righteous actions that changed the environment, and brought miracles.

Ms. Jin has been learning acupuncture at a local technical school. Since she started six months later than others and had no medical background, the teacher and classmates were afraid she might not be able to catch up. Ms. Jin studied hard. One time during a game testing players’ knowledge of acupuncture, the teacher and classmates surprisingly found that she got the highest score.

In her class, the students often formed small groups to study together or work on projects. Once a classmate Ella asked if Ms. Jin could give her a ride to the home of another student, Sofia, so the three of them could study together. Ms. Jin paused a second because this would mean she had to take a detour to pick up Ella and drive 30 more minutes. She then reminded herself to be considerate of others since she was a practitioner.

On the way to Sofia’s place, Ella said she had a lump in her chest and she worried it might be breast cancer. Ms. Jin shared her own experience of practicing Falun Dafa and recommended Ella give it a try.

At Sofia’s place, the three of them chatted about Falun Dafa. Speaking of Ella’s lump, Sofia said, “Why don’t we learn the Falun Dafa exercises here?” Both she and Ella learned the first exercise from Ms. Jin, and they liked it a lot. Ella had a follow-up exam and everything was normal.

“As a practitioner, nothing in our life is accidental,” Ms. Jin recalled, “There are many chances for us to improve ourselves, tell people the facts about Falun Dafa, and save them.”

Swedish Practitioner Truly Gets What It Means by Persistence

Ms. Chen came across Zhuan Falun at a local library in November 2009. She then went online and found a group practice site near her home. She has been practicing Falun Dafa since then. Shortly after the pandemic started, she joined a team making phone calls to China, exposing the CCP’s persecution of innocent citizens and urging people to quit the CCP and its junior organizations.

When reading the Fahui articles, she was especially impressed by one titled “Persisting in Rescuing Detained Practitioners and Saving Sentient Beings.” More specifically, she was touched by the author’s perseverance in rescuing detained practitioners and her journey of letting go of fear.

For example, as an introverted person who did not speak much, it was very difficult for the author to step forward to talk to detained practitioners’ family members and coordinate the rescue efforts. In addition, she had no legal background but must deal with officials who had participated in the persecution.

In addition, different practitioners also had various opinions.

“A dozen practitioners were arrested, and this is a big issue. Without other practitioners’ cooperation, there is no way you can do it yourself. Please don’t be too hard on yourself,” one of them told the author.

“You are a Dafa disciple. One person is enough,” another one said.

In the end, the author decided to take on this responsibility and rescue the detained practitioners.

Although having no related experience or legal background, the author learned knowledge and skills from Minghui articles. She wrote letters to officials clarifying facts, contacted lawyers, and treated family members of detained practitioners well. Later, those family members were moved and became very supportive.

Another aspect was eliminating fear. Once several incidents occurred and the author dared not leave home for fear of being arrested. But later on she realized that just staying at home would not help anything. Only by stepping forward with solid efforts could one truly let go of fear.

As the author improved herself, a detained practitioner was released and people involved also learned the facts about Falun Dafa. The author is grateful to Master for the compassionate help.

Ms. Chen thanked the author for writing such a great article, which helped her get what it meant by the article title “Persisting in Rescuing Detained Practitioners and Saving Sentient Beings.”
