(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 32 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Ju Shimiao was sentenced to three years in prison. He was taken to the drug rehabilitation section in Panjin Prison by the Fengcheng Detention Center staff on September 27, 2021.
Ms. Zhao Shanying, 74, was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and fined 5,000 yuan by the Chaoyang District Court.
The Jingyang District Court postponed hearings originally scheduled on September 28, 2021. A total of nine practitioners will face trial. Five of the nine practitioners held in the Deyang City Detention Center are Ms. Zhao Jie, Mr. Yang Zhipeng, Ms. Yan Yulan, Ms. Bao Shuhua, and Ms. Long Shuping. The other four, who have been released on bail, are Ms. Yu Yongqiong, Ms. Qian Shuju, Mr. Tang Lirong, and Ms. Cai Shangyu.
Police officer Chen Bin and another person went to Ms. Wang Junxia’s mother-in-law’s home to ask for Ms. Wang’s address on the morning of September 28, 2021. Chen gave her his phone number and told her to tell Ms. Wang to call him and go to the police station to look for him.
Three officers in plainclothes from the Xinhe Police Station, without showing any documents, knocked on the door of Ms. Peng Xiaomei’s home at noon on September 24, 2021. They told her to go to the Changsha No. 1 Hospital with them for a medical examination. They said that the procuratorate wanted a medical appraisal report. Ms. Peng is nearly 70 years old.
Ms. Peng refused to open the door or to take the medical examination. The officers immediately called a locksmith to unlock the door. They broke two doors and forcibly entered her home. When Ms. Peng refused to comply, the officers handcuffed her and dragged her away without saying anything.
After taking the elevator down from the sixth floor, they dragged Ms. Peng along the ground for about 30 meters, pushed her into the car, and drove to the hospital. The doctor conducted several tests and told her that the next step was to take blood samples on an empty stomach, scheduled two days later. She was not taken home until 5 p.m.
Ms. Zhao Lianping, Ms. Ji, and Ms. Yu went to the countryside to distribute Falun Gong materials and 2022 calendars on September 28, 2021. Ms. Ji, and Ms. Yu were from out of town and staying with relatives in Fusong County. They were reported to the police and arrested by officers from the Wanliang Town Police Station. All three practitioners’ homes were ransacked around 5 p.m.
Xu Haifeng from the Labor and Social Security Office of Yingcheng Sub-district, Jiutai District, harassed Ms. Zhang Guiyun by phone on the morning of September 23, 2021. Officer Liu from the Yingcheng Police Station harassed Ms. Zhang Guiyun’s daughter in Shanghai by phone on the morning of September 25.
Six people from the Yingcheng Sub-district Administration Office and the police station broke into Ms. Zhang’s home to harass and threaten her and her husband Mr. Wang Dianhua at 8:45 p.m. on September 25.
Two officers from the Badao Police Station knocked on the door of Guo Qing’s home at 10:30 a.m. on September 28, 2021. They claimed to verify household registration and national ID card information. After Guo opened the door, one took pictures of Guo with a cell phone, and the other recorded Guo’s voice with a tape recorder. They also asked to see Guo’s household registration book.
Officer An Li from the Beishan Police Station, Wang Guan from the Qitaihe City Police Department, and three community management employees went to the home of Mr. Li Yuzhuo’s parents with the excuse of conducting a fire safety inspection on September 23, 2021. They went to the back of the house, looked around, and asked who in the family practiced Falun Gong. Mr. Li’s parents replied that all three of them practiced. Before leaving, these people said, “Do not go out. Just practice at home.”
On the afternoon of September 24, officer An and three community management employees went to Mr. Li’s home again. At first, Mr. Li refused to open the door. Then they damaged the peephole in the door. After Mr. Li opened the door, they said that their superiors had told them to around. They told Mr. Li to cooperate. They ransacked the place and took photos with their cell phones. They also asked where Mr. Li worked. They looked around, saw photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and left.
In mid-September 2021, Ms. Cheng Qiaoyun, from the No. 9 Oil Production Plant in Daqing City, returned to her hometown to visit her parents in their 90s. Her husband was in poor health, could not travel with her, and stayed at home.
After she came back from her hometown, her husband told her that three or four days after she left, officer Qian came to their home. He was not wearing a uniform. Officer Qian said that if Ms. Cheng wanted to practice Falun Gong, she should do it at home, and not go outside to promote it. If she got caught, it would adversely impact the police station.
Xiao Hairong, Xiao Haihua (both from the Huayuan Road Community Management Office), and Zhao Peng (a household registration officer from the Huayuan Road Police Station) in Huayuan Road Sub-district, Nan’an District, broke into Ms. Cai Changying’s home after 11 a.m. on September 27, 2021. Without showing any documents officer Zhao started searching the place. They confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun, a copy of Hong Yin, a copy of Hong Yin III, a copy of Hong Yin IV, a copy of Hong Yin V, various Fa teaching lectures, keepsakes, and bookmarks.
The two community management staff members had previously threatened that if Ms. Cai refused to be photographed or refused to let them ransack the place, they would suspend her subsistence allowance and send her to prison.
Mr. Xu Yanzhong is being held in the Jiaozhou City Detention Center. The cases of practitioners Yu Boqing and Ji Jinmu have been turned over to the Jiaozhou City Procuratorate by the Jiaozhou City Domestic Security Division.
Ms. Hu Juying was arrested at home by officers from the Chengzhong Police Station, Development Zone, on the morning of September 27, 2021. She was released at 4 p.m. after the police spent over five hours searching film footage but failed to match her with what was caught on surveillance cameras or otherwise implicate her.
Ms. Zhang Ying, about 60, from Licang District, was arrested and her home ransacked on July 1, 2021.
Ms. Wang Yueqin was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong at the intersection of Weiming Street and South Second Ring Road at around 11 a.m. on September 27, 2021.
She is being held in the Xinshi Police Station. Two officers ransacked her home after 8 p.m. that evening and did not find anything they were looking for.
As part of the zero-out campaign, personnel from the Wukeshu Town government in Yushu City called and harassed Ms. Yu Shuqing’s daughter in recent days. They asked her to tell her mother to go to the government office. Ms. Yu’s daughter did not cooperate with them.
Li Guohua (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Gucheng Police Station on the morning of September 17, 2021. The officers said that during the epidemic last year, someone reported to the police that she was distributing Falun Gong materials, and they subsequently identified her on security camera footage.
Ms. Zhuang Hongrong was harassed at home on September 12, 2021, and ordered by Zhong Yan of the Sichuan Province Political and Legal Affairs Committee, local police and residential committee staff members to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong.
She refused to comply and said that practicing Falun Gong enabled her to become a much better person, but as she upheld her faith, she was arrested and detained several times. She said there is no way for her to sign the statement, which would write off all the mental distress she and her family had endured in the past two decades or the financial losses they suffered.
Ms. Hu Keying, 85, was taken to the Xinxiang Women's Prison on July 9, 2021, to serve a five-year term. Ms. Hu was sentenced to prison in 2017. Although the judge previously allowed her to serve time outside of prison due to her high blood pressure, he reversed his decision in June 2021 and ordered to take her back into custody.
