Taipei, Taiwan: Practitioners Hold Activities at National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Offer Free Online Classes

Oct. 12, 2021 |   By Falun Dafa practitioners in Taiwan

(Minghui.org) As Taiwan prepares to celebrate its National Day on October 10, 2021, Falun Dafa practitioners in greater Taipei held activities to introduce the spiritual discipline to the public at the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. Practitioners did the exercises next to the fountain on the Memorial grounds. They wore face masks and kept a social distance of one meter in accordance with the government’s COVID restrictions.

Practitioners in greater Taipei held activities, including demonstrating the Falun Dafa exercises, at the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on October 9, 2021.

It was a clear, warm, sunny day. Many people were enjoying the fine weather. Some passersby noticed practitioners as they did the slow-moving, gentle Falun Dafa exercises and took photos on their mobile phones.

Practitioners also handed out information. A tourist said he saw similar activities by practitioners in Keelung City and was impressed by the Tian Guo Marching Band. Many people asked practitioners where they could learn Falun Dafa, the characteristics of the practice, and so on.

Practitioners also set up an information booth near the side door of the Memorial Hall to hand out brochures and answer people’s questions.

The pandemic worsened in Taiwan after May 18 this year, and the island was placed on level three alert. The sudden escalation of the virus caused widespread anxiety. Due to the restrictions, practitioners could not teach the exercises face to face. Since August 2020, free English language classes were held online and on July 25, 2021, a Chinese language website to teach the exercises was launched.

A Chinese language website to teach Falun Dafa online was launched this year. The public is welcome to register and learn this mind-body practice.

The former chairwoman of the Falun Dafa Association in Taiwan Chang Ching-hua said, “Most outdoor areas were shut down after the pandemic worsened in Taiwan. This had a negative impact on people’s physical and mental well-being. Because practitioners personally experienced significant health and mental improvements after taking up the practice, they wish to share their positive experiences with others.”

Everyone is welcome to register for online classes to learn Falun Dafa (https://www.learnfalungong.com/chinese). The classes are always free of charge.

Background: What is Falun Dafa?

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China in 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Millions of people have embraced the teachings—which are based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance as well as five gentle exercises—and experienced uplifted health and well-being.
