(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is an ancient Buddhist practice with three core principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It was introduced to the public in Changchun City, Jilin Province in 1992. Within just seven years of its grassroots spread, 100 million people had taken up Falun Dafa in China, reporting remarkable health improvements, stress-relief, and improved relationships.
Fearing its ever-growing popularity, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Dafa in 1999. Qian Xuesen, known as the “father of China's aerospace” who also made significant contributions to human body science, firmly declined to attack Falun Dafa, despite then CCP-leader Jiang Zemin's repeated attempts to use Qian's fame and status to justify the persecution. What made Qian so determined?
Qigong (energy practice) has had a long history in China. From Hua Tuo's Wuqinxi (Frolics of the Five Animals) to Zhang Sanfeng's Taijiquan (Tai Chi Boxing) – from ancient Bagua (the Eight Trigrams), Zhouyi (The Book of Changes), and Huangdi Neijing (The Inner Classic of the Yellow Emperor) to the various practices of Buddhism and Taoism, each era in China's 5,000 years of civilization was immersed in spiritual exploration.
This all came to a halt after the Chinese Communist Party took power in 1949. Wary of any ideological opposition, the Party vilified all these spiritual artifacts as “feudal superstition” and summarily denounced them during the Cultural Revolution.
But thousands of years of tradition aren't so easily eradicated from people's hearts.
During the late 1970s, a surge of interest in the paranormal swept China when certain individuals with supernatural abilities came onto the scene. These people could read Chinese characters with their ears or use telekinesis to move objects, fascinating the general public. Spiritual exploration began once again, but this time under the banner of science as a branch of research: a group of Chinese scientists proposed a new field of science called the “science of the human body,” and qigong was studied in this field as a form of “frontier science.”
Qian Xuesen (December 11, 1911 – October 31, 2009), known as the “father of China's aerospace,” is a household name in China. When “Qigong” became popular in China, Qian Xuesen called this phenomenon “human science” and devoted considerable time and energy to the exploration and research of Qigong. His interest was in the academic field and in ideological innovation. As a physicist, the deeper he understood the microscopic world, the more he desired to discover the mysteries of life and the universe.
At the time, some people still opposed Qigong and Qian wrote to the central government, expressing his support for Qigong. Because of his special status as a well-known scientist who had made significant contributions to the research of the atomic bomb and the intercontinental ballistic missile, then top leader Hu Yaobang was influenced by Qian's attitude towards Qigong and issued the following order, “Do not propagate [Qigong], do not introduce to the public, and do not criticize.” Hu's order enabled the research of human science and Qigong to continue.
Qian is credited with founding and personally heading the Chinese Society for Human Sciences. According to Qian, “Human body science may lead to a new scientific revolution in the 21st century. Perhaps a greater scientific revolution than quantum mechanics and relativity in the early 20th century.”
Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist Party who launched the persecution of Falun Dafa in 1999, frequently visited Qian, hoping to use his status and influence to denounce Falun Dafa and its healing power. But Qian refused to attack Falun Dafa no matter how hard Jiang pushed.
Just like Qian, who fully respected life, the human body and the universe, Wu Shaozu, the then Director-General of the National Sports Commission, also fearlessly voiced support for qigong.
Wu once said, “Throughout the history of scientific development, when Copernicus proposed the heliocentric theory, when Galileo insisted on the theory of the rotation of the earth, when Einstein proposed the theory of relativity, and when Morgan proposed the gene theory, they were all soundly criticized by secular authorities, and those who championed the new theories even lost their lives.”
Before the persecution of Falun Dafa began in 1999, Wu once called on the central government to give the green light to the study of supernormal capabilities of the human body and qigong, and to give a clear affirmation to Falun Dafa.
Li Qihua, who was the president of the Second Military Medical University of the PLA and the director of the PLA General Hospital, was deeply moved by his wife's recovery from a terminal illness as a result of her practice of Falun Dafa.
“The personal change of my wife was so shocking to me. The General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, where I work, has the most advanced technology and equipment in the world. But even so, it did not cure my wife's illness, and she was cured without any injection or medication in such a short period of time after learning Falun Dafa. These questions kept turning up in my mind. Facts speak louder than words! I went from doubting and watching, to caring and wanting to try myself, and I now also practice Falun Dafa,” Li said.
The greatest scientists in the history of mankind, Newton and Einstein, both stood at the highest peak of their field. After they had exhausted the objective laws of the physical world, they found that the ultimate answer to the question about the universe could only be directed to the divine. Therefore, they both dived into spiritual belief in their later years.
Robert Jastrow, pioneer of the American space program once said: “At this moment it seems as though science will never be able to raise the curtain on the mystery of creation. For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.”
Biya Luo is a Ph.D. from Wuhan University who studied in the United States. In early April 2020, one of Biya Luo's classmates at Harvard was hospitalized with coronavirus infection. The doctor diagnosed that 60% of his lungs were necrotic and that there wasn’t much they could do to help him. He emailed Luo, saying he was dying and had signed the paperwork to give up treatment.
Prior to that, Luo had heard about stories of people recovering from the disease by reciting the auspicious phrases “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” She sent him the information and asked him to sincerely give it a try whenever he had time.
He trusted Luo and began to recite the phrases. He noticed his condition changed, improved, and eventually healed! He was discharged from the hospital shortly after that. His doctor was impressed with his recovery.
Osnot Gad is a 73-year-old jeweler living in Long Island, New York. In March 2020, Gad tested positive for the coronavirus. She quarantined at home as directed by the doctor, and gradually developed breathing difficulties and shortness of breath. She felt that death was near. Her friend Anna who practices Falun Dafa also suggested that she recite the phrases “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
Gad slowly recited the phrases over and over. Her shortness of breath gradually improved. Three days later, she recovered. “I do not know how it worked and why it worked, but it was my true experience.”
“I have been saying that daily since,” she said.
In ancient Chinese culture, it’s always believed that the human mind, body, and the universe are connected. When human beings are kind and moral, they are often blessed with health, peace, and wealth. When wars or plagues strike the world, it’s often an indicator of the degeneration of people’s morality.
With the world now ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic, we all need to ask ourselves, what went wrong? Maybe by searching internally, we can find a spiritual solution to the disease that transcends modern science and medicine. The coronavirus is spreading rapidly, so where does the world go from here? Do not miss every opportunity for salvation. If you are fortunate enough to read this message, perhaps it is the fate of your accumulated merits in your life. Sincerely recite the phrases, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” the positive energy of the universe will fill your body, and drive out the dark virus, renew your life, and face a bright and beautiful future!
