(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 42 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Zhou Shaoshan and his wife Ms. Gao Jiping and their daughter Ms. Zhou Na in the Wanbailin District were arrested on September 7, 2019. They were tried in the Wanbailin District Court around September 2020. Mr. Zhou Shaoshan was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5000 yuan; his wife Ms. Gao Jiping, was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5000 yuan; their daughter Ms. Zhou Na was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 3000 yuan.
Ms. Gao Jiping and Ms. Zhou Na appealed to the Taiyuan City Intermediate Court. They are facing a second trial.
Ms. Zhao Chunying from Fatou, Chaoyang District, Beijing was arrested and her home was ransacked at the beginning of the pandemic. She was released on medical parole and was placed under residential surveillance. She has not been heard from since December 13, 2020.
Ms. Qu Fengrong from the Lingcheng District was tried in an online virtual court hearing on December 15, 2020. The judges were in the Lingcheng District Court; the prosecutors were in the Lingcheng District Procuratorate; the attorney and the family members were in the law firm. Ms. Qu Fengrong was in the Dezhou City Detention Center. Ms. Qu Fengrong was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison.
Ms. Meng Qingling, who had practiced Falun Gong before, was told to pay a fine of 2,000 yuan by the village accountant Zhang Wei in December 2020. The money was given to Zhang Bo, head of the Xiwei Town Police Station.
Mr. Chen Xingquan was arrested by officers from the Zhouqu County Domestic Security Division on January 11, 2021. He was taken to the Zhouqu County Detention Center.
Ms. Zhou Min’s son was harassed at his workplace on January 6, 2021. Officials from Mazu Town came and pressured him to sign the three statements on behalf of his mother, which he refused.
Ms. Xiao Jiying lives in Jianshe Village, Yinfeng Township. Officer Gong Bo from the Majing Town Police Station came to her home on January 12, 2021 and warned her not to display anything related to Falun Gong. He also told her not to encourage her family members to practice Falun Gong, otherwise it would be bad for them.
Ms. Chai Shuzhen was sentenced to one and a half years in prison. She was scheduled to be released on January 11, 2021. Her family received a call from Hebei Women’s Prison on the morning of January 11, 2021. They were told that Ms. Chai was released, but they should not pick her up that day. Ms. Chai was arranged to stay in the prison hostel until the pandemic situation improved.
Ms. Cai Shuye lives in Dongzhuangzi Village, Donglianhuayuan Township. Her second oldest daughter has a shop in Qianxi County Town. The village Party director Dong Lianzhu and the village accountant Dong Lianwen came to her daughter’s shop on December 28, 2020. They wanted to find Ms. Chai via her daughter in order to have the guarantee statement signed, which is part of the Zero-out campaign. Eventually, her son-in-law signed the statements on Ms. Cai's behalf.
Ms. Pu Taishu received a harassment call from Guo Shujie in Jida Community on January 11, 2021. She was told to sign the guarantee statement. Ms. Pu said that she had not violated any laws and she would not sign it.
Ms. Sun Wanling, in her 70s, from Tiexi District, was arrested near the Sanlong Biguiyuan Community in Shenliao Road on January 13, 2021 for clarifying the truth. Her home was ransacked.
Ms. Li Yumei lives in Tianjia Village, Handian Town, Shuangcheng District. She was harassed at home by village officials Guo Haidong and Tian Shubiao on January 12, 2021. She refused to sign the three statements and her husband also refused to sign them on her behalf.
Mr. Pan Xingzhong and Ms. Xu Wenlan live in Beizhuang Village, Luguan Township, Nanpi County. The village chief led four township officials to harass Mr. Pan and Ms. Xu on the morning of January 11, 2021. They told them not to tell people about Falun Gong. When they tried to take a photo of Mr. Pan, he refused.
Mr. Zhou Shaotang from Dongguo Town was arrested at a morning market on the morning of January 13, 2021. He is now detained in the Yangquanzi Town Police Station.
Ms. Li Shuxiang was arrested and detained in the Beiguan Police Station on January 11, 2021. It is said that she has been taken to Changyi City on January 12, 2021.
Ms. Zhang Xiaoying and Ms. Wang Juying were arrested around 10 p.m., January 9, 2021 when they distributed truth clarification materials. They are now held in the detention house.
Mr. Kang Fujiang, 68, lives alone in Changyu Village, Xishanbei Township. He fell from a fruit tree last September and has not been able to take care of himself since then.
Mr. Kang was harassed repeatedly from October to December 2020 by village officials, township officials and the local police. After he refused to sign the four statements several times, the village officials informed him that hisstatus of five-guarantee households, minimum living allowance, and medical reimbursements would be canceled. On December 29, 2021, under threats and pressure from the village Party director, Mr. Kang was forced to give in and the process was videotaped.
Ms. Liu Aihua, 60, was followed and watched by police. She was arrested by officers from the Nanmen Police Station in the Baita District Police Department on January 12, 2021. Her home was ransacked. Her truth-clarifying materials and Dafa books were taken away. She is now detained in the Liaoyang City Detention Center.
Ms. Zhang Zhilian was harassed in mid-July 2019. Three officers from the Yuguan Town Police Station, led by the village Party director, came to Ms. Zhang Zhilian’s home. Her husband was at home. They took away Ms. Zhang’s Dafa books and her photo of Falun Gong's founder.
Ms. Zhang was harassed again on the morning of November 13, 2020. Two officers from the Yuguan Town Police Station came to her home to harass her.
Recently many practitioners in Yingshang County have been harassed by local communities, township governments and county and local police in an effort to make them sign the four statements.
Ms. Feng Yan was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center on the morning of January 6, 2021. She was detained for eight days.
Elderly Ms. Lv Guansuo lives in the No. 3 Bureau, Yanjiao Railway community. She was called to the community office by a neighbor to take a nucleic acid test on the morning of January 13, 2021. When she arrived, five staff members gathered around her and began to videotape her. They asked her name and whether she practiced Falun Gong. Ms. Lv answered that she practiced Falun Gong before, practices now, and will continue in the future. One of the five staff said that her name was Zhang Jing. She said that Ms. Lv was her grandmother and she had given up the practice of Falun Gong. However, Ms. Lv did not know this person, Zhang Jing.
Mr. Jia Dong, who lives in Songshan Village, Xishanbei Township, was arrested by officers from the Yi County Police Department and the Airport Police Station in Xishanbei Township on November 26, 2020. He was detained in the Yi County Detention House for two weeks. He was harassed at home on December 30, 2020, by officers from the Yi County Police Department. They used the excuse of checking on him to secretly photograph him.
Mr. Xu Jun lives in Yujiazhuang Village, Xishanbei Township. He was harassed at home on December 30, 2020, and was photographed. Mr. Xu was harassed several times last year.
Ms. Chen Fengzhen and Ms. Meng Xian live in Huzhuang Village, Xishanbei Township. They were harassed by officers from the Airport Police Station on December 31, 2020.
Ms. Yuan Wenxia lives in Wuzhuang Village, Tanghu Town. Village officials came to her home on January 2, 2021, and pressured her to sign the four statements. They told her that her name would be removed from the CCP's “Black List” if she signed the guarantee statement, otherwise her children and grandchildren would be implicated and their jobs and their schooling would be affected. Ms. Yuan refused to cooperate. They took a photo of her and left.
Mr. Tong Hengbiao was detained in the No. 13 Ward of Hulan Prison. He has been placed in solitary confinement several times.
Mr. Li Chang'an was detained in Hulan Prison. He was placed in solitary confinement once. He was subjected to various tortures including being “stretched in bed”, cuffed to a metal ring in the ground, made to endure freezing cold in the winter with the window open, etc.
Four more practitioners were detained in Hulan Prison. Mr. Kang Changjiang was sentenced to 14 years in prison and was detained in the No.1 Ward. He was arrested on November 13, 2011. Mr. Yue Baoqing was sentenced to 14 years in prison. He was arrested on November 13, 2011. Mr. Zhao Haijun was sentenced to 8 years in prison. He was arrested on May 6, 2016. Mr. Zhao Xingyou was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. He was arrested on November 11, 2017.
Ms. Wang Yuanming was arrested at home on April 28, 2017. Her home was ransacked. Everything related to Falun Gong, including her books, the photo of the founder, and truth-clarifying materials were taken away. She was detained in the Shuangliu Detention Center.
Ms. Wang was going to be sentenced to three years in prison. Her son was afraid that his old mother in her 70s would not survive a long jail detention. He borrowed and collected more than 300,000 yuan to have the sentence reduced to one year. Her daughter-in-law wanted to divorce her son because of the family debt.
After Ms. Wang was released, she was still constantly harassed by local police officers and the local community staff members.
Mr. Li Guocai and his wife Ms. Zhang Zongsu, both in their 70s, have had their pensions suspended for several months. They are retired from the Fourth Company of Second Bureau of China Construction. When they went to their original company inquiring about their pensions, they were told to appeal to higher authorities in Beijing.
Ms. Wang Juzhen was a senior teacher in Songming County. She was arrested in 2014 for distributing truth-clarifying CDs and was sentenced to seven years and seven months on May 4, 2015. She was released on August 17, 2020.
Ms. Wang’s family received a notice on September 16, 2020, from the political and legal affairs committee ordering Ms. Wang to report to the local police station. Ms. Wang was also followed and watched.
Ms. Wang was harassed at home by officer Zhou Meiqiong from the Songyang Town Police Station on January 7, 2021. The officer tried to collect her private information, but Ms. Wang and her family members firmly refused to cooperate.
Ms. Deng Meiqiong received a harassment call around 10 a.m., January 6, 2021, from officer Zhou Meiqiong from the Songyang Town Police Station. The officer wanted to come to her home, which Ms. Deng refused. That same day Zhou Meiqiong also harassed Ms. Huang Yanhong, another practitioner's colleague. Ms. Huang Yanhong had been sentenced to prison for helping another practitioner.
