(Minghui.org) Four Qingdao City, Shandong Province residents from the same Huangdao District were imprisoned between January 7 and 15, 2021 for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Below are the details of their cases.
Mr. Cui Yongqiang, 47, was arrested on September 29, 2019. He was tried by the Huangdao District Court on May 26, 2020 and sentenced to a 2.5 year prison term and a 10,000 yuan fine on July 30.
The Qingdao City Intermediate Court took his appeal case on October 20 and recently ruled to uphold his sentence. He was taken to the Shandong Province Prison on January 7, 2021.
Ms. Zhao Renxia, 51, was arrested on June 28, 2019. Due to her dangerously high blood pressure, she was released on August 1, 2019 and placed under house arrest.
Ms. Zhao was arrested again on January 6, 2020. She appeared in Huangdao District Court on July 16, 2020 and sentenced to seven years with a 20,000 yuan fine on July 30, the same day that Mr. Cui was sentenced.
The Qingdao City Intermediate Court also accepted her appeal case on October 20 and recently ruled to uphold her sentence.
Ms. Zhao was transferred to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison on January 14, 2021.
Ms. Wang Aige, 72, and Ms. Zhu Guoying, 78, were arrested on November 27, 2017, after being reported by a person for talking to her about Falun Gong on a bus. They were then released on bail.
The Huangdao District Procuratorate indicted them on July 31, 2018. Both women appeared in the Huangdao District Court on November 26, 2018. Ms. Zhu’s lawyer entered a not guilty plea on her behalf. Ms. Wang acted as her own lawyer and entered a not guilty plea for herself.
Ms. Wang was sentenced to a one year prison term and fined 5,000 yuan on December 26, 2018. Ms. Zhu was sentenced at a later time, also to one year with a 5,000 yuan fine.
The police took Ms. Wang to the Pudong Detention Center after the judge announced her verdict, but she was rejected admission due to her health condition.
The police took both Ms. Wang and Ms. Zhu to the hospital for a coronavirus test on December 15, 2020. They were then sent to a quarantine location and held there for 15 days.
Both women were taken to the Pudong Detention Center on January 5, 2021, and transferred to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison on January 15.
