(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 60 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Xia Yilin was reported to the police when she distributed information about Falun Gong near the train station on June 22, 2020. She was arrested by officers from the Zhanqian Police Station. She was taken to the Taiyuan City No. 3 Detention Center and denied family visits.
The Rencheng District Court previously notified Ms. Wang Xiuqin that a hearing would be held on August 25, 2020. On August 27, she was notified that the court hearing was postponed and would be held on the morning of September 8.
Ms. Zhu Renfen from Zhongshan District was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested by officers from the Hecheng Police Station on February 13, 2019. She was released that evening.
She was again reported to the police on May 24, 2020. She was arrested by officers from the Zhongshan District Domestic Security Division. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and two tape recorders. She has been held in the Liupanshui City No. 2 Detention Center for over four months.
Ms. Liao Guanghui was tried by the Fucheng District Court on September 1, 2020. Her lawyer pleaded not guilty on her behalf. The court sentenced her to three years in prison with four years of probation.
Lu Chuanguo from Hanjia Garden Industry Bureau Political and Legal Affairs Committee called the workplace of Ms. Zhao Peijin’s husband three times in late August 2020. Lu told his workplace officials to call her husband, telling him to persuade his wife to sign guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong.
On July 27, 2020, Ms. Jin Shuqin, 80; Ms. Yu Yongfang, 79; and Ms. Du Jingxian, 67, in Guanghui Township, Yuhong District, Shenyang City, were arrested by about 15 officers from the Liaohe Oilfield Police Station in Liaohe City. They confiscated the practitioners' Falun Gong books, printed materials, and paper currency that had Falun Gong facts printed on them.
At the police station, the officers forced the women to sign and fingerprint paperwork. The officers forcibly took samples of their blood and their temperatures. The officers demanded to know where they got their Falun Gong books and materials from. The practitioners were released after 8 p.m. that evening.
Ms. Xiong Lihua was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Hanzhong Police Station, Qiaokou District, on September 1, 2020. She was held in the Erzhigou No. 1 Detention Center for 15 days.
The Xindu District Domestic Security Division collaborated with Gangtie Road Police Station, Huning Police Station, and Dahuoquan Police Station to arrest numerous practitioners, ransack their homes, and take them to a brainwashing center on August 28, 2020.
Among those known to have been arrested are Mr. Hao Bushen and his wife (both in their 70s), Ms. Niu Wenge (in her 50s), Ms. Gai Fengying (in her 60s), and Xianglian (in her 70s). They have all returned home.
Mr. Guo Jinzhao (about 70) and Ms. Hu Hui (in her 50s) are being held in the brainwashing center.
Ms. Xue Yucun escaped. Her home was ransacked.
Ms. Zhao Guiyun (in her 60s), Xiaohong (in her 50s), Taosu (in her 60s), and Ms. Feng Shuwen were arrested on the afternoon of August 29. Everyone except Ms. Feng was released.
Mr. Wang Yun’s wife Ms. Ma Fengxia and her daughter Ms. Wang Yueming were arrested on September 2, 2020. The Zhuozhou City Police Department and the Domestic Security Division sealed their door with an official note that day.
Ms. Wang has returned home. Ms. Ma is still held in custody. Mr. Wang has stayed away from home to avoid persecution.
Ms. Qi Huahua was arrested by officers from the Zhijin County Police Department led by Tong Hui, head of the Zhongshan District Domestic Security Division on November 19, 2019, for mailing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong.
The officers confiscated a copy of Hong Yin II. Ms. Qi was taken to the Zhijin County Detention Center and later transferred to the Qixingguan District Detention Center in Bijie City.
By late April 2020, she was already being processed for trial, and family visits were forbidden. Ms. Qi remains in custody.
Four or five plainclothes officers from the Yijiadun Police Station broke into Ms. Deng Xiuqin’s home on August 27, 2020. They said that someone had reported her for posting Falun Gong materials and told her to go to the police station to “make notes.”
When Ms. Deng did not cooperate she was arrested. Her husband was also taken to the police station for questioning.
The officers confiscated all her Falun Dafa books, small speakers, pendants, keepsakes, paper cutter, and a pouch laminator. Ms. Deng was released around 8 p.m. Due to the pandemic, she was placed under residential surveillance.
Ms. Deng received a phone call from the police station on the afternoon of September 2. She was told to go to the police station to give her fingerprints. She refused to go and left home. After a while, a person from the police station came to her home and told her husband that they would return to look for her again and that they were not finished yet.
Ms. Liu Hui and Ms. Shen Guizhen ran into Li Gang, deputy head of the Mishan City Domestic Security Division, while they were talking to people about Falun Gong on August 15, 2020. Li ordered officers from the No. 2 Police Station to arrest them.
The two practitioners were transferred to the Jixi Detention Center after being held in a lockup center for 12 days on August 28.
During the women’s physical exams, their blood pressure was high and their heart rates were over 170 beats per minute. They failed the physical and were released at 8 p.m. that evening.
They remained under surveillance at home. They were not allowed to contact other Falun Gong practitioners and were told to write guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang Aihua was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested on the afternoon of August 31, 2020. She was taken to the Zhangjiakou City Detention Center for 12 days. She refused to cooperate while she was detained.
Seven officers from the Hujiayuan Police Station, Binhai New Area, Tanggu District, broke into Ms. Wei Min’s home and arrested her on September 2, 2020. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and Falun Gong books. Her husband took her home early the next morning.
Ms. Sun Guihua was reported to the police when she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong at noon on September 3, 2020. She was arrested by officers from the Gaizhou City Domestic Security Division. Her home was ransacked, and two bags of printed materials were confiscated.
Ma Zhiqiang, Party secretary of Weihe West Village, intercepted and harassed Mr. Yan Yulin on his way home from work several times around August 20, 2020. Ma demanded to know Mr. Yan's phone number and other personal information. He also photographed him.
Officers from the Weizhou Police Station knocked on Mr. Yan’s door around 9 p.m. on August 30 and insisted that he sign the three statements renouncing Falun Gong. Mr. Yan refused.
Police stations, communities, rural towns, and brigade personnel in Hulan District repeatedly went to practitioners’ homes and made phone calls to them.
Ms. Xia is 78. Her son received a call from the Guangming Police Station in late May 2020. He was asked his mother’s address and whether she still practiced Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang is 85. Her son received a phone call from someone in the Xinhua Residential Community in early June 2020. He was asked his mother’s address and if she still practiced Falun Gong. The son refused to answer.
Ms. Wang Jinyue’s husband, who worked in Hebei Province, received several phone calls from the Party Secretary of Guoyuan Village, Shuangjing Township, Hulan District. Her husband was frightened and worried about the safety of his wife at home.
Ms. Chen Zhong, Ms. Jiao Xiaohua, Ms. Bao Yufen, Ms. Zhou Chunzhi, Ms. Guo Yuhua, Ms. Guo Yulan, Ms. Li Dongxue, and Ms. Hu Cuihuan were all harassed by personnel from the community office and other organizations.
Ms. Yan Xihua, in her 70s, was arrested in mid-March 2020. She is being held in the Shuangyashan City Detention Center. The Jianshan Court scheduled her trial for September 8.
Ma Rongzhe, an official from the Jishu Sub-district Administration Office, phoned Ms. Tai Lijuan’s husband and told him to come to the office in early August 2020.
Ma intimidated and threatened Ms. Tai’s husband to pressure his wife to divulge her contacts, including who she reported to and who she passed information to. Her husband refused to cooperate. Later, community personnel told his wife to go to the office to write a guarantee statement.
Ms. Tai went to the Judicial Office on September 1 and ran into Ma. Ma told Ms. Tai to go to a brainwashing center, which she refused to do. She had just given birth and had had surgery less than a month before.
After being repeatedly intimidated and threatened by the community personnel, Ms. Tai's heart condition that developed in the detention center where she was abused has now returned.
Ms. Zhu Lijie and Ms. Zhao Jinlan were notified by the Jishu Judicial Office to go to the brainwashing center.
Mr. Xu Zhongyou was notified to go to the brainwashing center on September 4 or 5.
The Shulan Judicial Bureau recently contacted Ms. Guo Qingfen and threatened to take her to prison.
Ms. Zhang Fenglan from Bin County was officially arrested by the Bin County Police Department on September 1, 2020. She is being held in the Harbin City No. 2 Detention Center.
Ms. Dai Qunying, Ms. Li Shifang, Ms. Jian Hongmei, and Mr. Liu Kaisheng were arrested at the Zihuai Town Farmers' Market in Hejiang County on August 16, 2020. They were held in the Hejiang County Detention Center and later transferred to the Luzhou City Detention Center.
Ms. Yu Fengqing was arrested by officers from the Erdao Domestic Security Division. Her home was ransacked, and a computer, Falun Dafa books, and a small radio player were confiscated. Ms. Yu was held in the Weizigou Detention Center for seven days and then transferred to the No. 4 Detention Center. The detention center officials have not allowed her family to visit her or bring her any clothes. Her family could only deposit money for her.
The pensions of Ms. Zhao Xinyun and Ms. Zhang Mei’e from Suixi County were recently suspended. Ms. Zhao has contacted the Huaibei Social Security Bureau to reverse this action.
Ms. Yang Wanxin from Shijingshan District was arrested on August 20, 2020. She is being held in the Shijingshan District Detention Center.
Under the instigation of the local Political and Legal Affairs Committee, Ma Lixia (director), Jiang Xiaoying (deputy director), Zhao Yanbin, and Wang Yan from Fuyu County Market Supervision Administration went to talk to Ms. Sun Jingjie, Ms. Ma Yan, Ms. Hu Chaohong, and Ms. Fu Jing. They told the practitioners to write guarantee statements to renounce Falun Gong. If they did not write them, their families would be told to write the statements for them. The four practitioners refused. All four practitioners are employees at the Fuyu County Market Supervision Administration.
Ms. Li Xinping has been under residential surveillance since April 3, 2020. Her family member received a phone call from Hu Tongjun, an assistant prosecutor, on September 2, 2020. Hu told them that Ms. Li had to go to the court to meet with a judge at 9 a.m. on September 3.
Officers from the Gaojia Police Station demanded that she undergo a physical exam. She was told that she would be tried at 9 a.m. on September 3.
Family members accompanied Ms. Li to the Ganjingzi Court on September 3. The police notified them that the court had issued an arrest notice the previous night and that the police department would carry out the arrest.
Ms. Li was taken to the Yaojia Detention Center by officers from the Gaojia Police Station. She was later taken to the Wafangdian Detention Center around 9 p.m.
