(Minghui.org) In daily life, I try to cultivate myself well, get along with my neighbors, and seize every opportunity to tell them the truth about Falun Dafa. I spread the seeds of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and the hope of salvation throughout my community. At the same time, I show my neighbors how a practitioner behaves and validate Dafa with my actions.
In the summer of 2013, there was a lot of rain. The gated entrance to our community was in a low-lying place. As it rained, a lot of water accumulated around the gate. When vehicles passed through it, they often splashed pedestrians with muddy water. There were around 200 households in our community, and everyone used this gate.
As a Dafa practitioner, I thought I should consider others first. I discussed it with my practitioner husband about repairing the road at the gate. He worried that he was not a professional and wouldn't do it properly, but he was happy to give it a go.
A few days later, my brother-in-law visited. He is in construction. I asked him what materials were needed to repair the road at the gate. He knew the truth about Dafa and was very kind, so he gave me a list and agreed to help. He said, “It’s good to make it convenient for pedestrians and to help others!”
We quickly bought the materials and started fixing the road. Neighbors learned that we were doing it voluntarily out of our own pockets and joined our team. The road was repaired in less than four hours. After finishing the work, the neighbors returned home happy and satisfied and with respect for Dafa practitioners.
After the repair, because the concrete was not yet dry, I was afraid that the new pavement might be ruined, so I stood there and watched over it. My neighbor whose job was repairing bicycles came home. As soon as he saw the road was repaired, he praised us for doing a good deed. I said, “Considering others first is what kind people do.” Since then he has changed his view of us and respects us very much.
One day in 2015, a policeman came to my building and asked the same neighbor which floor I lived on. The neighbor pretended he didn't know. When the policeman finally knocked on my door, nobody answered. I returned home right after the officer left, and my neighbor told me what had happened. I suspected that the police came to my home because I'd filed a lawsuit against the former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Jiang Zemin.
I learned that when the policeman called, my husband and sister-in-law were studying the Fa and working on Dafa projects at home. They said that they were not afraid and sent forth righteous thoughts. I went downstairs and told my neighbor, “You protected Dafa practitioners today, and you will be blessed.”
Since then, several neighbors have done things to protect us. They knew never to talk about us being Dafa practitioners in front of others, and they did not cooperate with the CCP representatives who came to harass us.
In the spring of 2006, the aluminum alloy windows in the hallway of the building where I lived were stolen. For many years, they had been in a state of disrepair and the entire hallway was dirty on windy days and cold in winter. I discussed the theft with my husband, and we decided to repair the windows and pay for it ourselves.
My husband went to find a contractor to install the new windows. The contractor learned that we were using our own money for the repair and said that it was not easy to find good people like us. He did not charge a labor fee; he only charged for the materials. My husband took the opportunity to tell him about Dafa and why Dafa practitioners behaved this way.
After the neighbors discovered that the windows in the hallways were repaired, they were moved and admired us.
The lock on the door of our building unit was also broken. I bought new locks, installed them, and copied keys for every home. The neighbors were very grateful.
A family of three generations lives downstairs. I explained Dafa to them, and they withdrew their memberships in the CCP and its affiliated organizations. The whole family benefited.
The elderly man is almost 70 years old and had been in poor health. After withdrawing from the CCP, he was in good health and spirits. After his wife recited “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” her diabetes greatly improved, and she was able to do housework for the first time in a while. Their daughter withdrew from the CCP, and her job became easier. And the son-in-law also submitted his resignation, and his business prospered.
After the outbreak of the pandemic, I went to their home to give them a booklet and reminded them to recite “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” The whole family was very moved, and they have been silently supporting and protecting us for all these years.
An elderly woman lives on the first floor. I visit her every New Year's Day. On the afternoon of the first day of 2018, I paid her a New Year's visit, and her son happened to be there, too.
After exchanging greetings, I told them about Dafa. I said, “We live in the same building, so fate has brought us together. It would be my fault if I didn't tell you that Dafa is good. This Dafa is a high-level Buddha Fa that teaches people to be kind. It has a wonderful effect on keeping people healthy and fit. After quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations, you'll have a safe future.”
I continued, “Today is the first day of the New Year. If you quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations, you can have a safe, peaceful, and harmonious family, as well as a great start to the New Year!”
At that time, my thoughts were righteous. In the past, I told her the truth but she was not interested. This day I saw that her mind had been changing. She said, “I have been a CCP member since 1965. Please help me quit the CCP.” Her younger son said, “Please help me quit the Communist Youth League and Youth Pioneer League.” Her third son then came out of the kitchen and said, “I am a CCP member, and I also want to quit!”
After a while, her whole family understood the truth, and all of them withdrew from the CCP. When I went to visit them on New Year's day the next year, they treated me like their long-lost relative. In particular, the mother took my hand and was very happy. She was very spritely for someone who was almost 90!
Many miraculous stories have happened in my neighborhood. They are the ones who have a predestined relationship with me. I thank Master Li (Falun Dafa's founder) for bringing us together, and I thank Him for saving them. Because I am the hope of all beings around me, the neighbors have understood the truth and awakened.
The joy that comes from Dafa and my respect for Master cannot be expressed in human language. Only by cultivating myself well can I better repay Master's grace and live up to His expectations.
