(Minghui.org) I am 24 years old and practice Falun Dafa. I knew Falun Dafa was good ever since I was young. My grandmother took up the practice in 1996. I asked her for a copy of Zhuan Falun in 2006 when I was 10. I understood that I should be a good person, and I read Zhuan Falun over and over. But beyond that, I couldn’t comprehend anything profound.
I decided to genuinely practice Falun Dafa in 2012 when I was 16. Later on, my mother also took up the practice.
I have encountered many xinxing tests. In the beginning, I didn’t know how to look within when I encountered tribulations. With other practitioners’ help and Master’s hints, I have become more and more mature in my cultivation practice.
Although my father doesn’t practice cultivation, he understands that Falun Dafa is good and supports my mother and me in our cultivation. He often helps us produce Dafa truth-clarifying materials
A few days ago, my father and I went out to buy some printing supplies. The shop was about to close when we got there. He said he would run in quickly by himself and get what we needed. I could wait in the car.
It was a hot day so I opened the car window. My father returned and could not get the car started. He became angry, and asked me what I did to the car. I told him I only opened the window. He continued to blame me.
I felt I had been wronged. Then I quickly remembered Master's teaching that I had just studied the day before.
Master said,
“For a cultivator, all the frustrations he comes across among everyday people are trials, and all the compliments he receives are tests.” (“A Cultivator is Naturally Part of It,” Essentials for Further Advancement)
“Forbearance is the key to improving one’s xinxing. To endure with anger, grievance, or tears is the forbearance of an everyday person who is attached to his concerns. To endure completely without anger or grievance is the forbearance of a cultivator.” (“What is Forbearance (Ren),” Essentials for Further Advancement)
I realized that this was a test for me. I calmed down and no longer felt aggrieved or wanted to complain to him.
Master said,
“As you know, when a person reaches the Arhat level, in his heart he is not concerned about anything. He does not care at all in his heart for any ordinary human matter, and he will always be smiling and in good spirits. No matter how much loss he suffers, he will still be smiling and in good spirits without any concern. If you can really do this, you have already reached the entry-level Fruit Status of Arhatship.” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)
I should thank my father for creating this opportunity for me to improve.
The car was fixed and we were told it was not a battery problem, which my father thought it was. On the way home, he said, “You have improved your xinxing today. You took the blame and yet you were not angry. In fact, it was not your fault, and I shouldn't have blamed you.”
I realized that the circumstances would change once my xinxing is improved.
Master said,
“It is actually because of this that one will find it difficult. When an interpersonal conflict occurs, if you cannot practice forbearance or treat yourself as a practitioner in dealing with it, I would say this is unacceptable.” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)
From this experience, I truly could understand the importance of improving one’s xinxing. When something goes wrong, I should always look within.
Master said,
“You cannot only pursue transformation of gong in the physical body without emphasizing improvement of your xinxing. It is waiting for you to upgrade your xinxing—only then will you make a holistic change.” (Lecture Six, Zhuan Falun)
To overcome hardship, we must look within and correct ourselves.
