(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 43 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Jun and Ms. Zhou Yuxiang Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Zhou Jun and Ms. Zhou Yuxiang were sentenced to prison by the Huangdao Court on July 30, 2020. Ms. Zhou Jun was given a one-year prison term, and Ms. Zhou Yuxiang a four-year prison term. Ms. Zhou Yuxiang has appealed her sentence.

2. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Tan Chuying Sentenced

Ms. Tan Chuying was arrested and taken to the Guangzhou City No. 1 Detention Center on July 13, 2019. She returned home in January 2020. She was recently sentenced to two years in prison, with three and a half years of probation.

3. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Liu Chuanping Missing

Ms. Liu Chuanping, nearly 80, has been missing for about 15 days. She was reported to the police on March 13, 2020 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested at home and taken to the Feihe Police Station by a group of police officers. Ms. Liu was released that day, but her whereabouts are unknown.

4. [Chongren County, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Dai Chuanyi Arrested

Mr. Dai Chuanyi, 54, was arrested again by officers from the Fuzhou City Domestic Security Division on July 22, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong materials. His home was ransacked and a laptop was confiscated.

Officers from the Chongren County Domestic Security Division and the 110 Response Unit ransacked both Mr. Dai’s new and old residences on July 23, 2020. They confiscated two copies of Hong Yin (a collection of poems by the founder of Falun Gong), and two books which contained articles by practitioners. Mr. Dai’s wife was arrested, interrogated, and threatened.

Mr. Dai was placed in criminal detention. His young children and elderly parents are not able to manage the store he operates, and they have a hard time making a living.

Mr. Dai was fired from his job on November 11, 2008, and was later sentenced to three years in prison.

5. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Qiao Ping and Ms. Peng Fengyun Harassed

Officers from the Xincheng Police Station went to Ms. Qiao Ping’s home in mid-April 2020. They ordered Ms. Qiao to sign prepared statements renouncing Falun Gong, which she refused to do.

Personnel from the Tianqu West Road Sub-district Office phoned Ms. Peng Fengyun’s husband in May 2020, and asked if she still practiced Falun Gong. They phoned him again on July 24.

6. [Donggang City, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Harassed

Beijingzi Town Government officials and Song Jingguan, director of the Xiaogang Village Committee, went to Ms. Pan Guizhen’s home in the Tianyu Group and harassed her on the afternoon of July 17, 2020. They demanded that she write guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong. She refused.

Beijingzi Town Government officials went to the homes of Ms. Cai Shuli and Ms. Zhao Xiufang in Beijingzi Village and harassed them on the afternoon of July 20, 2020.

Two officers from the Beijingzi Police Station harassed Ms. Na Shuchun and Ms. Dong Lifeng in Fanjiashan Village on July 27, 2020.

7. [Da’an City, Jilin Province] Mr. Yu Lei Appealed Prison Sentence

Mr. Yu Lei has been held in the Shanyou Detention Center in Songyuan City for eight months. He was sentenced to prison, and appealed to the Songyuan City Intermediate Court.

8. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Shao Jianing and Her Mother Ms. Liu Li Arrested

Ms. Shao Jianing was intercepted just as she stepped out the door to go to work, by two plainclothes officers from the Longsha Police Department on July 30, 2020. The officers barged into her home and ransacked it. Ms. Shao and her mother Ms. Liu Li were arrested and taken to the Jiang’an Police Station for interrogation.

Both practitioners were held for two days, and released without further incident.

9. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Zheng Jingzi, Ms. Zhang Xiying, and Ms. Yan Xiaobai were taken to the Xingtai Brainwashing Center by the Longyao County Political and Legal Affairs Committee at 8 p.m. on July 21, 2020.

In the brainwashing center, officials resorted to intimidation. They threatened the three practitioners that if they did not give up practicing Falun Gong, their children would not be allowed to go to work and their grandchildren would not be allowed to go to school.

10. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Xiuxiang and Husband Mr. Yang Hongtu Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiuxiang and her husband Mr. Yang Hongtu from Beitaishang Village, Xinzhuang Town, were reported to the police when they were posting banners with the words, “Falun Dafa is great, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is great.” They were arrested by officers from the Xinzhuang Town Police Department on the morning of July 29, 2020. Their home was ransacked, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong and a three-wheeled electric car were confiscated. The couple was released after 6 p.m. that evening.

11. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Youping Missing

Ms. Wang Youping, in her 50s, from the Chengdu City Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau, has been missing for a few days. It’s suspected that police arrested her and ransacked her home.

12. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Jun Harassed

Personnel from the Gusaoshu Neighborhood Committee, Jianghan District, and 610 Office staff broke into Ms. Chen Jun’s home and harassed her on the morning of July 17, 2020. They took photos of her and video-recorded her. They went to her home and harassed her again on July 23.

13. [Liaoyuan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Xiangzhuo Monitored and Harassed

Ms. Liu Xiangzhuo was released from detention in Dongliao County. The Liaoheyuan Police Station and the Judicial Office still monitored and harassed her, and demanded to know if she still practiced Falun Gong.

14. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Diting and Ms. Fan Meirong Harassed

Officers from the Zhugou Police Station went to the homes of Mr. Liu Diting and Ms. Fan Meirong in Xiaozhanggezhuang Village and harassed them on the morning of July 28, 2020. They confiscated Mr. Liu’s handwritten copy of Hong Yin (a collection of poems by the founder of Falun Gong).

15. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Guo Jinfeng’s Home Ransacked

Officers from the Anguo City Police Department broke into Ms. Guo Jinfeng’s home and ransacked the place without showing any documents around 6 p.m. on July 29, 2020. They confiscated about 3,000 yuan in cash, a laptop, a printer, Falun Dafa books, brochures, and USB flash drives. The officers went to her home again at 8 p.m., and attempted to arrest her. Ms. Guo had left home to avoid further persecution.

16. [Foshan City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Yanqun Faces Trial

Ms. Li Yanqun was scheduled to be tried at the No. 5 Trial Chamber of Ludaohu Office Area on August 5, 2020.

17. [Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Haikang Arrested

Mr. Liu Haikang, in his 60s, was arrested at home by officers from the Bei’an City Domestic Security Division on July 31, 2020. His home was ransacked.

18. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Yu Xiaowei Arrested

Mr. Yu Xiaowei was intercepted by the police at the Changchun City Post Garden on July 28, 2020. His whereabouts are unknown.

19. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Ye Xiaobing’s Case Turned Over to Procuratorate

Ms. Ye Xiaobing is from Tianhe District. Her case was turned over to the Haizhu District Procuratorate at the end of July 2020.

20. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Mei Harassed

Officers including Yu Chunfeng from the Longsha Police Department broke into Ms. Wang Mei’s home and ransacked the place after 6 p.m. on July 30, 2020. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and printed materials. They forced her family and relatives to sign the paperwork. They also grabbed Ms. Wang’s hand to sign and press her fingerprints on the documents.

21. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Du Guolin, Ms. Li Junlan, Ms. Xing Deqin, and another female practitioner were arrested by Jiang Zhenghui (head of the Liuhe County Domestic Security Division), Gao Yuwen (deputy head), and several other officers on July 28, 2020.

Ms. Li’s home was ransacked on the evening of July 28, and a complete set of Falun Dafa books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated. She was placed in detention.

Officers from the Laozhan Police Station and a property manager brought a locksmith to open Mr. Du’s door. They entered her home and ransacked it on the afternoon of July 29. They confiscated many personal belongings.

The three practitioners were taken to the hospital on the morning of July 29, for nucleic acid tests, and physical checkups. Ms. Xing and Ms. Li were then taken to the Tonghua Detention Center, and Mr. Du to the Diaoyutai Detention Center. The other female practitioner was released after failing the physical checkup.

22. [Shanghai] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Wang Yurong, in her 80s, Ms. Liu Meiying and Ms. Gao Lingling, both in their 70s, from Beixiaqu Residential Community, Hudongxincun Residential District, Pudong New Area, were arrested when they were studying Zhuan Falun together at Ms. Wang’s home on the morning of July 28, 2020.

The police confiscated copies of Zhuan Falun, brochures, and paper currency bills with Falun Gong information printed on them. The three practitioners were taken to the Hudongxincun Police Station, and released at 5 p.m. that afternoon.

23. [Nong’an County, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhou Juan Arrested

Ms. Zhou Juan from Sanbao Township was arrested on July 15, 2020. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

24. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xi Huiling Held in Custody

Ms. Xi Huiling, an employee at the Fenghuo Machinery Factory, was tricked into going to the Chang’an Community Brainwashing Center, Hongping Town, Wenjiang District, in mid-July 2020. She has been held there ever since.

25. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wu Liru Arrested

Ms. Wu Liru from Yuelu District was arrested at home by seven officers on July 30, 2020.

26. [Beijing] Homes of Mr. Shi Delong and Mr. Zang Guiming Ransacked

Mr. Shi Delong and Mr. Zang Guiming from Fangshan District were recorded by surveillance cameras when they distributed Falun Gong materials in the Chengguan area in the days before April 25, 2020.

The Chengguan Police Station and the Hancunhe Police Station dispatched four police cars and several officers to break into the homes of Mr. Shi and Mr. Zang and ransacked them on April 26. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, printed materials, two printers, and a laptop.

Two officers grabbed and lifted Mr. Shi, who is in his 70s, to arrest him. Mr. Shi passed out, and the officers gave up trying to arrest him.

27. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wu Bangrong’s Home Ransacked

Huang Min, deputy director of the Huayuan Street Community, and plainclothes officers from the Chengxi Police Station broke into Mr. Wu Bangrong’s home in Jiancheng Town and ransacked the place on July 17, 2020.

They confiscated Falun Dafa books and a Minghui Weekly, among other items.

28. [Nong’an County, Jilin Province] Mr. Jiang Quande Taken to Hospital

Mr. Jiang Quande was arrested on July 15, 2020. He has since returned home. He is in poor health due to abuse in detention and was sent to the Changchun Cancer Hospital by his family. The police called his son to monitor his condition.
