(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 30 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Elderly Ms. He Wen was sentenced three years and six months in prison and fined 7,000 yuan on November 25, 2019. She was taken to Dongcheng District Detention Center. While incarcerated, she went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. She was forced-fed every day. Her weight dropped from 154 lb to 88 lb. She was taken home by her family on June 4, 2020, and is now under house arrest.
Ms. Li Guoxin of Pingdingshan City was arrested at Hebin Park on June 30, 2020. Her home was ransacked. She is being held at Wugang City. Details are unknown.
Ms. Lu Jinying of Chiping County was arrested on the morning of July 6, 2020, by more than 20 officers from the Qihe County Police Department and the Domestic Security Division, and the Chiping County Police Department. Her home was ransacked.
Mr. Zhang Zongqiang was also arrested
Mr. Lin Shusheng and Ms. Wang Xingping from Xiayun Town, Pingba District, Anshun City were arrested on July 4, 2020, by officers from the Anshun City Domestic Security Division, the Pingba Police Department, and the local police station.
Ms. Wang Guifeng, 82, lives in her daughter's home. A male officer and two female agents from the residential committee came to the home on the morning of July 3, 2020. They ordered her to sign a letter to defame Falun Gong. She refused. The officer said, “Then just practice at home. Don't go out and talk about it.” They took a photo of her, then left.
Mr. Zhao Yougong was harassed at home at noon on July 2, 2020, by three people led by village secretary Zhang Yingjun. They asked if he still practiced Falun Gong. If he did not stop it would negatively impact his children's future. Then they went to Mr. Zheng Zhijun’s home, took away a picture of Falun Gong's founder, and questioned his granddaughter if she thought practicing Falun Gong was good or not. His granddaughter was terrified and started to cry.
Ms. Xi Jiao of Shanghai became mentally disoriented after being abused. Since July 2019, she became weaker and weaker both physically and mentally. Officers ransacked her home after practitioners visited her in April. She was weak and terrified and passed away on May 6, 2020.
Elderly Ms. Qi Xiuwen of Handan City was arrested by plainclothes officers and taken away in a car when she talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on July 7, 2020. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Wei Xiuxia and Ms. Ren Junai of Gucheng County were arrested on June 15, 2019. They will be tried by Jing County Court on the morning of July 11, 2020.
Practitioner Zheng of Hengnan County, 70s, (gender unknown), distributed Falun Gong flyers in Xiangyangqiao Town on the morning of July 7, 2020, and was arrested, taken to the town police station, then to the Hengnan County Police Department that afternoon. Zheng's whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Liu Xiuli talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Wendengying Town Open Market on the morning of July 3, 2020. Someone reported her. She was arrested and taken to the Wendengying Town Police Station. Officers searched her bag and found her senior citizen card. They called the Longshan Police Station and Ms. Liu’s daughter. Her daughter came and took her home.
Ms. Zhong Hua and Ms. Ran Wenfang have been detained for more than a year. Jinniu District Court tried them online on July 6, 2020. Ms. Zhong and Ms. Ran pointed out that China's constitution guaranteed freedom of belief and that the persecution of Falun Gong was baseless. Regardless of the facts, judge Zhang Yuan sentenced Ms. Zhong to two and a half years in prison and fined her 10,000 yuan. Ms. Ran was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 6,000 yuan.
Ms. Chen Jinhua of Qiyang County was arrested at home on June 4, 2020. She has been held in the Lengshuitan Detention Center.
Before July 1, 2020, officers from the Bincheng District Domestic Security Division and police stations harassed each practitioner on their name list, checked if they were still practicing Falun Gong, and demanded they confirm and sign the list. Mr. Yu Zhong, Ms. Geng Jianfen, Ms. Li Shufen, and Wang (gender unknown), were arrested. Their homes were ransacked. The officers confiscated four computers, six printers, printing materials, and Falun Gong books. They were released.
Lu Qiao (gender unknown), and Ms. Lu Zhonglan of Fuping County were harassed at home by Zhou Jinhu and other agents from the Datai Township government on June 14, 2020. Although the agents tried to coerce them into signing and saying they would stop practicing, the practitioners refused.
The agents then went to Ms. Guo Changju’s home and did the same. Ms. Guo refused, too. But her husband was scared and signed for her.
Ms. Nan Jinxiang of Fuxin City was sentenced to a year in prison by the Haizhou District Court. She appealed.
Ms. Wang Ming was released from Nanshan Prison on June 30, 2020, after serving three years in prison. Her lower right calf was amputated in prison because of a toe infection. She has difficulty taking care of herself.
Ms. Zhang Xiuling’s home was ransacked by officers from the Baoji Road Police Station on the morning of May 18, 2020. Her MP5 and cellphone were confiscated. Ms. Lian Jingmin’s home was ransacked the same day by officers from Pingchuan Domestic Security Division. The officers seized her Falun Gong books, a computer, and a cellphone. Then they went to Ms. Xu Xuejun’s shop, ransacked the place, confiscated her computer and cellphone. The practitioners were arrested and released that night.
