Head of Domestic Security Office: “We Didn’t Want to Arrest You”

July 16, 2020 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) I was arrested in early April while giving out materials about Falun Dafa, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999. During an interrogation, I explained to the officers why the persecution lacked a legal basis from the onset, and urged them to stop following the CCP to persecute innocent Falun Dafa practitioners. I’d like to share my story with fellow practitioners and encourage everyone to do better.

After I was taken to the police station, I refused to sit in the metal chair while being interrogated. The head of the Domestic Security Office grabbed a regular chair and said, “How about you sit here?”

I sat down. Instead of being interrogated by them, I took the lead in the conversation and asked them, “Why did you arrest me? I didn’t violate any law!”

The head of the Domestic Security Office replied, “To tell you the truth, we didn’t want to arrest you. It’s just that someone reported you and we have to do something about it.”

Another officer threatened to sentence me if I didn’t cooperate with them. I argued that no law has ever criminalized Falun Dafa in China, and we practitioners have done nothing wrong by living by the practice's core principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.”

The head of the Domestic Security Office paused for a while, then said, “Even if you are trying to be good people and didn’t violate the law, what you did was against the Party and disrupted social order.”

I replied, “I was just trying to tell people the truth about the CCP, so that they won't be implicated when it comes time to hold the CCP responsible for the crimes it committed against Falun Dafa practitioners. My distributing materials caused no harm to anyone.”

The officers remained silent.

I went on to say, “You spent so much time and effort monitoring and arresting me, a defenseless woman. Don't you realize that you will be held accountable for executing the CCP’s persecution policy?”

The police officers became silent again. After a while, the head of the Domestic Security Office revealed that their supervisor also told them not to sentence Falun Dafa practitioners if not absolutely necessary, but try to use softer means to “educate” them into renouncing their faith.

Seeing that the police were aware of the consequences of carrying out the persecution, I continued telling them about the Tiananmen Self-immolation hoax and the karmic retribution of officers who took part in the persecution. I also urged the officers to use software to break through the Internet blockade and get uncensored information from overseas websites themselves.

At the end of the conversation, the head of the Domestic Security Office asked me, “Is it that you are not going to write the renouncing statement to give up your belief?”

“We are all good people. Do you want us to renounce the goodness and become bad people?”

The head of the Domestic Security Office laughed, “I knew you wouldn’t write it.” He drove me back home in the evening. “This was probably the easiest case I’ve handled. See, we didn’t mistreat you and sent you back early so that you could have dinner with your family.”

I realized that he was truly trying to be kind to me. I waved goodbye to him and wished him well.

A week later, he called and said they’d like to ask me a few more questions. I went to the police station, but refused to answer the questions, such as where I got the Falun Dafa materials.

The officers treated me nicely and offered to buy me some drinks or snacks. I felt they were just going through motions to complete the required procedure. A few hours later, they sent me home.
