Mother Sentenced, Son and Daughter-in-law Monitored for Their Shared Faith

(Minghui.org) A Zaoyang City, Hubei Province resident was recently confirmed to have been sentenced to two years in Wuhan Women’s Prison for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Kang Junfeng was arrested on April 10, 2019. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books and related materials, as well as her computer and other personal belongings. More details about her sentencing remain to be investigated.

Because of practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Kang, her son, Mr. Fang Kun, and his wife, Ms. Shi Guangyan, have been under long-term surveillance by the authorities. Multiple cameras were set up around their apartments. Mr. Fang, in particular, was arrested many times in the past. His wife was also once sent to a brainwashing center. Their two children grew up in fear.

After Ms. Kang was arrested last year, the police began to monitor the breakfast stand operated by her son and daughter-in-law. In order to avoid arrest, Mr. Fang went into hiding and didn't return home until recently.
