Jilin Man Faces Prosecution for Distributing Information about Falun Gong

June 4, 2020 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jilin Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Jilin City, Jilin Province resident is facing prosecution for his faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Qi Yanming, 57, distributed informational materials about Falun Gong in a residential area in mid-May 2020. He was noticed by two residents, who approached and beat him. They next forcibly took him to the local police station. The police ransacked his home and his clothing store. His computer and printer were confiscated.

Due to the epidemic, the local detention center refused to accept him and he was released on bail. The police recently submitted his case to Jilin City Procuratorate.

Prior to his latest arrest, Mr. Qi has been repeatedly targeted in the past 20 years for his faith.

A few police officers harassed him on July 13, 2008. They asked whether he still practiced Falun Gong and ordered him to write statements to renounce his faith. Mr. Qi refused to comply and was brought to the police station.

After he managed to escape from the police station, the police harassed and threatened his family, in attempts to find his whereabouts.

Mr. Qi was arrested again while riding a train on November 25, 2016. The police ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong related materials. He was detained for 15 days this time.

The police harassed him two more times in October 2017 and detained him for five days, because of his filing a criminal complaint in 2015 against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong.
