Overcome Barriers and Clarify the Truth Rationally

April 25, 2020 |   By a practitioner from China

(Minghui.org) Many articles on Minghui.org recently have talked about how to clarify the truth rationally during the pandemic.

The authors of these articles have used their experiences to remind fellow practitioners to clarify the truth with wisdom and to not go to extremes. These articles are very helpful. I would like to share a few things that I have experienced recently.

I ran into two retired people a few days ago. We talked about the CCP virus. I told them about the three epidemics the ancient Roman empire experienced due to the persecution of Christians, which eventually led to the fall of the empire. I said that the fundamental reason for the numerous disasters in China nowadays, both natural and man-made, is the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, who cultivate “Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance.”

One of the men said that his cousin is a practitioner, and this cousin had tried to convince him to quit the Party a few years ago. The man had asked his cousin why he needed to quit the Party. She told him, “You don't know? A big hook has dropped from the heavens to the human world. The hook caught so and so... the Party is about to fall.” Her irrational claims made this guy believe that Falun Gong practitioners have mental problems.

I didn't know what to say. It was like a barrier had formed and it was difficult to communicate with them anymore. I could not say that the fellow practitioner was irrational, nor could I explain logically how “a big hook has dropped from the heavens.” I talked about some other topics related to Dafa and the persecution. After a long talk, I finally corrected his misunderstanding of Dafa. I told both of them that during the pandemic, they must remember “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” They happily accepted my words.

A few days ago, a practitioner approached my wife at a bus stop. They didn't know each other. The practitioner told my wife, “The weather is bad. The temperatures have dropped. You should wear more,” and then the practitioner jumped into: “Did you join the communist Young Pioneers when you were little?” My wife was confused–how are cold temperatures related to joining the Young Pioneers? My wife told me, “This practitioner didn't transition between topics smoothly. She would not only see poor results with her truth-clarification, but she may also cause misunderstandings and make everyday people dislike her.”

There is another story that demonstrates why we should approach different people in different ways, and why we should not adopt the same methods for everyone.

My residential community has a small park. Many people go there in the morning and evening for all kinds of exercises. I go there in the mornings to clarify the truth. I have found that people can readily accept, “Falun Dafa is good,” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” But they don't want to listen to me when I try to convince them to quit the Party. They seem to think I was getting political.

So what was the problem? What were they attached to? I found the answer when I talked to an old couple a few days ago.

The area where we live used to be on the outskirts of the suburbs. A few years ago, the CCP planned to urbanize the countryside and turn farm fields into real estate. So the party moved 3000 farmers to the city, giving them a free apartment as well as a retirement stipend. The farmers never thought, as farmers, they would get a retirement stipend. They came to believe that all of these things came from the CCP. The old couple told me that their relatives in other provinces who are also farmers don't have a retirement stipend. So the old couple felt happy about the CCP's policies.

They didn't understand that the CCP buys their appreciation using the taxpayers' money. This was what they were attached to. I told them that it is taxpayers who financially support the CCP, not the CCP who improves their lives.

So when we clarify the truth and talk to different groups of people, we should take different approaches and bring up different talking points to gain the desired results.

A lot of articles on Minghui.org talk about how to clarify the truth to different groups, including seniors, intellectuals, students, workers, and farmers, etc. We can learn a lot from those articles.

Finally, let's read Master's teaching:

“True Dafa disciples have higher energy and are able to destroy karma and germs; they are emissaries of salvation in these latter days, and bring their wisdom to bear upon saving people as they share truthful information related to our practice.” “You are not here to change history, but rather, to save people at this most dangerous time in history, by raising awareness, persuading people to withdraw from China’s three major communist organizations, encouraging people to sincerely say the magic words, and so on. All of these are the best medicine possible, the best way to rescue people—when people’s morals change, things will change for the better.” (“Stay Rational,” Team Yellow Translation)

The above are my personal understandings. Please correct me with compassion if I've said anything wrong.
