Hebei Woman Targeted for Her Faith, Biometric Data Collected and Family Harassed

April 17, 2020 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Baoding City, Hebei Province resident was arrested and interrogated for spreading information about her faith in Falun Gong. The police ransacked Ms. He Lihong home and intimidated her brother, father and son. They also collected extensive biometric data from her for further surveillance.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since 1999.

On March 19, 2020, several officers from Ansu Town Police Station found Ms. He’s brother, took away his cellphone and forced him to take them to one of Ms. He’s residences.

As soon as Ms. He’s father opened the door, a group of plainclothes officers broke in. They also confiscated the cellphones from the elderly man and his grandson. Next they ransacked the place and confiscated Ms. He’s Falun Gong books, cellphone and other personal belongings.

Knowing that Ms. He has another residence, the police forced her brother to call her and asked her to wait for him there. The police then drove to Ms. He’s other home and arrested her.

At Xushui District Domestic Security Division, the police forced Ms. He to admit that she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong in a residential area, after showing the photos taken by the surveillance camera and her son’s clothes (as a way to threaten her).

The officers also collected her palm prints, fingerprints, and even information of her iris. They attempted to collect her blood, but relented due to her strong resistance.

According to an article titled “The CCP Wants You—and Your Eyes Too” published by Bitter Winter on February 25, 2020, the CCP is “collecting iris information about all Chinese, including children, and storing it in gigantic databases.”

The Bitter Winter article noted, “Iris is the colored circular part of the eye that surrounds the black pupil. Unlike facial information and fingerprints, there is no way you can change your iris—which makes for the most reliable biometrical data, together with DNA, and a great tool for controlling citizens in a police state such as China.”

Ms. He was released later that afternoon.
