(Minghui.org) The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has infected over 556,000 people and caused more than 25,000 deaths globally. Media reports over the past few months have described how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has blocked information and manipulated data, both during the initial outbreak of the virus in Wuhan and during its evolution into a pandemic.
The CCP's continued disinformation campaign to shirk responsibility and blame other nations for the pandemic has triggered anger globally.
“The world must socially distance itself from the Chinese Communist Party until its government shows no more symptoms of malign global ambitions, predatory economic practices, human rights violations, and animal cruelty,” wrote the author of an article in The Detroit News on March 25, 2020. The article was called “Let's social distance from China's diseased regime.”
So far, New York City is the region hardest hit by the virus in the United States. Social distancing restrictions have interrupted on-the-ground efforts to explain the link between the CCP and the virus to local people. To spread the message through the predominately Chinese community of Flushing, the local Quit the CCP Service Center organized cars with car top signs and banners to drive in a procession on March 21 and 22, 2020. The signs and banners called on Chinese people to distance themselves from the CCP for their own safety.
“The CCP virus is ravaging the world” and “Say no to the CCP and stay away from the virus” were among the messages on the banners.
The cars drove along Kissena Boulevard, Main Street, and Roosevelt Avenue. Mr. Wang, one of the drivers, said, “Many people, especially Chinese, were impressed by our presence. Some gave us the thumbs up for encouragement, and some took out their phones to take pictures.”
Cars covered with signs and banners in Flushing, New York, urge the public to “Say no to the CCP and stay away from the virus.”
Yi Rong, president of the global Quitting the CCP (Tuidang) Center, said the CCP has heavily infiltrated the U.S., especially New York, for years.
“During the Chinese New Year parade, for example, pro-CCP agents were hired to hold China’s flags on the streets of Flushing. This was then reported back in China to boast about the CCP’s influence overseas,” she said. “Cutting ties with the CCP is critical for our safety and future.”
Ms. Yi said the recent cover-up and disinformation about the coronavirus pandemic is another crime committed by the regime, adding to its long list of crimes. The CCP has persecuted practitioners of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong), a meditation system based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance since July 1999.
In 2017 The Washington Post published “Lessons from a century of communism,” by Ilya Somin, a law professor at George Mason University, in which the author said:
“Collectively, communist states killed as many as 100 million people, more than all other repressive regimes combined during the same time period. By far the biggest toll arose from communist efforts to collectivize agriculture and eliminate independent property-owning peasants. In China alone, Mao Zedong’s Great Leap Forward led to a man-made famine in which as many as 45 million people perished – the single biggest episode of mass murder in all of world history.”
An editorial from The Epoch Times on March 18, 2020, said that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) prefers to call the virus the “novel coronavirus,” to distance itself from responsibility, while many people around the world have referred to it as the “Wuhan virus,” after its place of origin, as is common in naming diseases. “The Epoch Times suggests a more accurate name is the ‘CCP virus,’ and calls upon others to join us in adopting this name.”
