(Minghui.org) A Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province resident in serious medical condition was sentenced to seven years for practicing Falun Gong, an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Xu Xiujuan, in her 50s, was arrested on June 7, 2017. She was forced to take unknown drugs and beaten, as well as being tied to a wooden board for four days with her arms crossed and her feet chained with heavy shackles. She was not released even when she needed to relieve herself.

Ms. Xu developed high blood pressure and heart condition as a result of the abuse. Her family repeatedly requested her release in order for her to receive medical treatment, but they were rejected each time.

Ms. Xu appeared in Haigang District Court on December 11, 2018. She was emaciated, pale and very weak. Her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her and she also testified in her own defense.

The court recently sentenced her to seven years. She was sent to Shijiazhuang Women’s Prison on January 15, 2020.
