University of Georgia Students Seek Inner Peace through Practicing Falun Gong

February 03, 2020 |   By a practitioner from Atlanta

(Minghui.org) Students at the University of Georgia (UGA) had a chance to learn about Falun Gong, a mind-body self-improvement practice rooted in traditional Chinese culture, at a student club recruitment event on Wednesday, January 23, 2020. Many of them hoped the practice would help relieve stress and improve the efficiency of their studies and work.

Mr. Zhang, chair of the Falun Gong club at UGA, said many students stopped by their booth and left their contact information to sign up for a future workshop.

“Students here are under tremendous stress. They are very busy, and many of them always feel tired,” Mr. Zhang said. “Falun Gong improves one's mind and body, and keeps practitioners energetic. Meanwhile, it keeps one in a positive mood, which helps improve study efficiency. When you cannot focus, you are inefficient, no matter how smart you are. Practicing Falun Gong helps one focus and can therefore solve this problem.”

Chloe, a Falun Gong practitioner in her sophomore year, told visitors about the Falun Gong club and how the practie can increase one’s energy.

Chloe started to practice Falun Gong in November 2017. “It gives me mental and physical health, so I feel lucky,” she said. “When I feel stressed, I would tell myself to follow the course of nature. Cultivating Falun Gong makes me more confident, because I understand that I should follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. When I follow these principles in my daily life, I am happy to talk to people and no long feel afraid.”
