(Minghui.org) A woman who had her left arm amputated due to a workplace accident rekindled hope in life after she took up Falun Gong. For telling people about the practice, however, Ms. Luo Guizhen was recently sentenced to eight months in prison.
Ms. Luo is a 63-year-old retired sugar factory worker in Suining City, Sichuan Province. Due to an accident at work, she lost her left arm thirty years ago when she was only in her 20s. Her heart was filled with fear, and she didn’t know how to go about her life in the future.
In the 1990s, after Falun Gong was introduced to the Chinese public, Ms. Luo joined millions of Chinese people in learning this ancient spiritual discipline. Her health quickly improved and smiles were seen on her face again.
After the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Luo went out to inform the Chinese people of what Falun Gong is about and how she had benefited from it herself.
At 9 a.m. on April 15, 2020, Ms. Luo and three other practitioners were followed by a plainclothes officer while they were distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The four of them were arrested and taken to the local police station. Their homes were also ransacked. Although the other three practitioners were released that evening, Ms. Luo was transferred to the Pengxi County Detention Center and then the Yongxing Detention Center.
When her family went to the police station to demand her release, the police said they were no longer in charge of her case as it had been submitted to the Chuanshan District Procuratorate.
Her family hired a lawyer, who met with her in the detention center in late August.
Ms. Luo appeared in Chuanshan District Court on September 25. Her lawyer entered a not-guilty plea for her. The judge sentenced her to eight months during her sentencing hearing on November 19.
