Camouflage of Communism in the Free World

Dec. 25, 2020 |   By Shi Zhong

(Minghui.org) Democrat-turned-Republican Representative Jeff Van Drew from New Jersey said in an interview on November 9 that Donald Trump represents the interests of the general public, not the elite class.

“He showed how politics could be better, that you really could work and fight for the average person,” he remarked, “The people who vote, the average, everyday working people out there need to be listened to and not forgotten about, and certainly not looked down upon, and that was happening a great deal.”

“It's like, they have that saying, ripping the Band-Aid off and seeing what's underneath,” he added, “[Trump] did that and he showed the seamy side, quite frankly, of politics.”

This is an accurate description of the current situation in the U.S. For those who have been through communism movements or come from communist countries, what’s happening in America is a prelude to communism.

An Attempt to Rewrite History

Rewiring history to fit its own narratives is common across communist countries. Unfortunately, such a trend is also coming to the U.S.

Socialists know that communism has failed in almost all communist countries. Therefore, they are trying to push through the communism agenda through alternative routes instead of blindly copying the model in Soviet Union or China.

Such a path was also proposed by Italian communist Antonio Gramsci, who advocated to subvert Western culture from inside, which is known as “the long march through the institutions.”

“Socialism is precisely the religion that must overwhelm Christianity,” he explained, “In the new order, Socialism will triumph by first capturing the culture via infiltration of schools, universities, churches, and the media by transforming the consciousness of society.”

This has almost become a reality. The New York Times Magazine launched the 1619 Project, claiming arrival of the first enslaved Africans in the Virginia colony as the birth of America. It challenged the history of United States since 1776. Through collaboration with the Pulitzer Center and the Smithsonian, the project has produced many publications and curriculum for school.

In some cities, BLM advocates had started to destroy statues of American founding fathers and burn U.S. flags. Viewed by many as a culture revolution similar to that launched by Mao Zedong in China, it intends to fundamentally change the U.S. history and undermine the Christian heritage. “We are trained Marxists,” said Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors during an interview with Real News Network.

To address this issue, Trump announced to establish a 1776 Commission in a meeting in September for patriotic education. On November 2, he issued an executive order to launch the commission to “better enable a rising generation to understand the history and principles of the founding of the United States in 1776.”

This is not something trivial. Considered the beacon of the free world, the U.S. was built on faith, liberty, and democracy. Were all these changes to happen, all these values would be discarded very soon.

A similar situation already happened in China about 70 years ago. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) took power in 1949, it called the country “New China” while claiming the era before 1949 as the “Old Society,” implying that everything associated with it should be weeded out. During the Cultural Revolution and other political movements, the CCP instigated people to attack Confucius and destroy the Four Old (namely, Old Ideas, Old Culture, Old Habits, and Old Customs).

This not only applied to ideologies, but also physical objects. Ancient temples were demolished, Confucius statues were smashed, priceless art works were burned, and finally countless intellectuals were tortured and humiliated in public to break their caliber. Were these things to happen in America, what kind of world would we live in?

“Soon You Won’t Recognize America,” remarked Trump with worries. He knew that those who rewrite history would instill hatred in the young generation against our culture and nation.

Socialism and Communism: Track Record of Failure

Socialism is a popular topic in some of the young Americans and surveys showed more than half of them support the idea. One example is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), one of the first members of the Democratic Socialists of America elected to Congress.

After the coronavirus pandemic broke out due to mishandling by the CCP and concerted voice from WHO, the oil industry faced a disastrous blow, which has cost hundreds of thousands of jobs and could put many U.S. producers out of business. AOC, on the other hand, was thrilled.

“You absolutely love to see it,” she tweeted. “This along with record low interest rates means it’s the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet,” reported Washington Times in an article on April 26 with the title of “AOC and her communist buddies embrace a COVID-19 world.”

She also encouraged people to take advantage of the unemployment benefits instead of going back to work when when government says so. However, she had millions of followers on Twitter including both teenagers and adults.

This is an unfortunate situation, said Paul Rubin, professor of economics at Emory University. “Some of the most fervent supporters of socialism are college students—and at most universities, capitalism is a dirty word. The young people supporting socialism are our students, and we should teach them the problems with this fashionable but flawed economic system,” he wrote in a October 2018 article titled “Paul Rubin: We Must Teach College Students Basic Economics.”

He further explained this in a 2000 book with a title of A Students Guide to Socialism: How It Will Trash Your Lives. More specifically, the consequences of socialists include poverty, less freedom, expensive and costly goods, less innovation, and worse environment.

In contrast, the productivity and wealth in the U.S. comes from capitalism. “The young people who are the sharpest critics of capitalism are themselves highly dependent in their daily lives on the products of capitalism. These include computers themselves, mobile phones, Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, Uber, Skype, Spotify, computer games, and almost any other modern product,” Rubin wrote, “Additionally, the creators of these products are among the ‘millionaires and billionaires’ despised by socialists.”

History often repeats itself and similar situations also occurred in China. In 1915, the magazine of New Youth appeared in China that criticized traditional values and promoted socialism. It was quickly hijacked by the CCP for its communism propaganda. From 1937 to 1945, Mao always advanced the communism ideology in the name of “democracy” and “liberty.” Countless people were deceived and some intellectuals who lived overseas returned to China to join the new government, only to be suppressed during numerous political movement after the the CCP took power in 1949.

The lies did not stop there. After the Cultural Revolution, Deng Xiaoping claimed China to be in the “Primary Stage of Socialism.” After the dissolution of Soviet Union and Eastern Europe communist bloc, the CCP proposed “Socialism with Chinese Characters.” But the political movements continue, and censorship as well as disinformation remained the same.

Atheism and Deviation from American Spirit

The socialism has advanced quickly in the U.S. and one example is California, where governor Gavin Newsom has closed churches, schools, gyms, and restaurants claiming them “non-essential.” At the same time, strip clubs, abortion clinics, and marijuana vendors were allowed to open.

Rob McCoy, a pastor from Thousand Oaks, had been fined thousands of dollars for holding church due to the restriction. He said the situation is “insane.” “Cannot America see the hypocrisy and the stupidity of all this? You’re being lied to,” he remarked in November, “We are finished with your tyranny and we are going to enjoy Thanksgiving and we’re going to worship God.”

U.S. is a country founded on faith. In 1956, President Dwight D Eisenhower approved a law stating “In God we trust” as the national motto to strengthen freedom during the Cold War. “In these days when imperialistic and materialistic communism seeks to attack and destroy freedom, we should continually look for ways to strengthen the foundations of our freedom,” explained Representative Charles E. Bennett who introduced the bill in the House at the time.

Still, other than U.S. President Ronald Reagan and U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, very few politicians paid attention to it. Although more than 90% of Americans believed in God according to a survey of over 4,000 people by Pew Research Center in 2017, the current pace of socialism agenda in the U.S. is very alarming.

The socialism trend was clearly seen in the past few months including the U.S. election. In California, robbery of less than $950 was no longer considered a felony, resulting in the crime rate increasing dramatically. Without an effective border control, illegal immigrants would come to America at will. Other agendas include advocating for same-sex marriage and legalization of marijuana.

“The Democrats put an accent on every disturbing development during the Trump years, but not on the disorder that has caused countless millions of dollars in property damage, killed and injured innocent people, and contributed to rising lawlessness in cities around the country. About that, they maintained a discreet silence” wrote Rich Lowry, editor of the National Review in Boston Herald on August 26. with a title of “The crisis in our cities that Democrats dare not mention.”

To some degree, this is similar to the chaos that occurred in communist countries before the party took over power or following political movements. “Everything under heaven is in utter chaos; the situation is excellent,” wrote Mao when he instigated the Red Guards for the Cultural Revolution.

By attacking traditional values, the CCP destroyed culture and morality. The destruction continues today, one example being the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong, a mind-body practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, in the past 21 years and counting. Over 4,000 Falun Gong practitioners are confirmed to have died as a result of the persecution. Jiang Zemin, former CCP leader who launched the suppression, had been sued in several countries for crime against humanity and torture.

In the Name of “Equality”

On November 3, Californian voters rejected Proposition 16 that aimed to restore affirmative action. This proposition, if passed and becoming law, would have allowed California’s public agencies, universities and community colleges to consider race, gender and ethnicity when making decisions on contracts, hiring and student admissions.

“We have successfully defeated a far-left measure in America’s bluest state,” Wenyuan Wu, executive director of Californians for Equal Rights, said in a statement issued on November 4. “We won and the principle of equality has prevailed again, against a powerful opponent backed by the political establishment, corporate billionaires, and special interest groups.”

Another advocate, Saga Conroy, said the affirmative action offends traditional notions of America as a land of equal opportunity, where anyone can make it if they work hard. Similar to other initiatives from the Democratic Party, it tends to make people less motivated and greedier.

Former Idaho state representative Curtis Bowers is producer of the documentary Agenda: Grinding America Down that exposes how communism and socialism are threatening the American society. “Who has done more to help the poor recently than anyone? President Trump, whether you like him or not. President Trump created circumstances that helped more people get jobs than any time in the history of America, especially of minorities. I was so excited about that,” he said in an interview in October, “I think 10 million people just in his first three years were removed off the welfare rolls. That’s a successful campaign right there.”

Communism has attracted lots of people like opium; in the mean time, it has caused great damage – taking about 100 millions unnatural deaths that occurred in communist countries in the past century. What happened in Soviet Union, East Europe communist block, as well as the totalitarian CCP, have proven communism is always a failure.

Inside China, over 360 million people have announced to quit the CCP and its junior organizations of the Youth League and Young Pioneer. As more people outside of China began to recognize the nature of communism, it will lead to its ultimate collapse in this world.
