Six Sichuan Residents Face Trial for Their Faith

(Minghui.org) Six Chengdu City, Sichuan Province residents are facing trial for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

A group of officers broke into Ms. Liu Guoxiu’s home on November 18, 2019 and discovered that she was making calendars with information about Falun Gong in them. The police arrested Ms. Liu and the other five practitioners who were at her home, including Ms. Luo Zhaolan, Ms. Huang Gangjun, Ms. Shen Guofeng, Ms. Du Huizhen and Ms. Wei Guohua. The calendars they made were confiscated.

The six practitioners were held at the Chengdu City Detention Center. Their arrests were approved on December 26, 2019. They were recently indicted and their cases have been submitted to the Xindu District Court.

In the past five years, the Xindu District Court has wrongfully sentenced nine Falun Gong practitioners to prison. Ms. Ding Hui, Mr. Lin Xiaoquan, and Mr. Zheng Bin were sentenced in 2016. Ms. Ding suffered a mental collapse due to the torture while in custody. Mr. Feng Guiqing was sentenced in 2017. Ms. Huang Xiangling and Ms. Fu Fazhi were sentenced in 2019. Mr. Chen Yixin and his wife Ms. Zheng Tiaoqiong were each sentenced to 1.5 years on September 24, 2020. Mr. Wang Guohua was sentenced to three years on October 22, 2020.

The judges in the Xindu District Court that have been handling Falun Gong cases include Chen Lunfu, Fu Hua, Zhang Lin, Liang Kang, Wang Jie, and Chen Xiaomin. Both Zhang and Wang were recognized by the government as top ten judges in Xindu District in October 2020.
