(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 13 provinces, where at least 47 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Guo Lianlan, 73, was arrested by Wuzhong City police in October 2019 for distributing Falun Gong flyers. She has been in police custody since then. She was sentenced to three years in prison. Her appeal was denied. Her family is not allowed to visit her.
Ms. Bu Rumei was sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Wujin District Court on October 23, 2020. She is being held at the Changzhou Detention Center.
This is her third time to be sentenced. She was given one year and nine months of forced labor the first time and two years in prison the second time.
Ms. Tan Jiang and Ms. Yang Jie were tried in the Fengxian Court on October 23, 2020. Ms. Tan was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Ms. Yang was sentenced to 10 months in prison and fined 2,000 yuan. Ms. Tan was released on bail.
Ms. Peng is being monitored by officers from the Yichang City Domestic Security Division and the Gaoxin District Domestic Security Division in October 2020.
Ms. Li Daoqiong was ordered to sign the three statements renouncing her faith in Falun Gong in September 2020. Neighborhood Committee director Li Ming threatened Ms. Li’s family.
Because Ms. Liu Yuhua talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong, Qianan County Domestic Security Division head Li Jian ordered officers to photograph, harass, and arrest her several times. In the following months, officers monitored her home and put her under surveillance.
Ms. Wang Guiping received a harassing call from community officer Sun from the Second Police Station. Sun ordered her to report to the police station and fill out forms. Sun threatened to harass her at home if she did not.
Ms. Chen Xiumei and Ms. Guo Zhiping have been detained for seven months. They will be tried in the Gaoyang Court on November 6, 2020.
Ms. Shen Youhui was arrested at home and taken to the brainwashing center located in the Xishange Hotel on October 20, 2020, by agents from Ningbo City 610 Office and Ningbo City police.
Mr. Wu Rui, Ms. Li Ruihua, and Mr. Xie Wanmeng will be tried in the Yantian Court on the afternoon of October 29, 2020. They are being held in the Shenzhen City No. 3 Detention Center.
Mr. Zhang Jiayu and his wife Ms. Zhang Guiying were called to the village office on October 22, 2020. A village cadre and a young man tried to force them to curse Falun Gong and its founder and give up the practice.
Wang Yali, Han Dongmei, Zhang Jinglu, Liu Qun, Pan Mingyue, Wang Zhenqing, and Mu Yesheng were repeatedly harassed by officers from the Xinxing Township Police Station in September and October 2020.
Ms. Jin Yuhong was charged by the Taoshan District Procuratorate. The Taoshan District Court notified her lawyer that she will be tried on November 5, 2020.
Wang Baohua (gender unknown) was harassed at home by several officers from the Jianye Township Police Station. The officers asked if Wang still practiced Falun Gong. They ransacked the home and seized a Falun Gong book.
Ms. Zhang Yuhua of Xiangshui County is subjected to 15 days of detention. On the day of her arrest, officers ransacked her father-in-law’s home and her sister-in-law’s home. No one else in the family practices Falun Gong. They were scared. Chengxi Police Station officers confiscated Ms. Zhang’s computer and other belongings.
Zhou Shuzhang, Chai Shuguo, Chai Shusen, Zhou Shaoli, Lu Mei, Zhao Zhijun, and Cui Jun were harassed. Some of them were pressured to sign or write a guarantee statement. Some had to stay away from home to avoid further harassment.
Mr. Ju Shimiao, Ms. Sun Zhongqin, and Ms. Dong Xiuhong were tried in the Zhen’an Court on the morning of October 23, 2020. They and their families were ordered to sign afterward. Mr. Ju was taken to the Kuandian Detention Center for isolation, and Ms. Sun and Ms. Dong to Dandong City for isolation.
Ms. Yu Yanzhi was harassed at home by officers from the Tiedong Police Station on October 23, 2020. They ordered her to write the “three statements.”
Mr. Wu Chengjun was arrested and detained in the Beidi Detention Center on October 15, 2020. He was taken to the Liaoyang City Detention Center on October 17. He will be held there for 10 days of quarantine, then transferred to the Benxi City Detention Center.
Ms. Feng Xiangju’s home was ransacked by seven plainclothes officers from the Xinji City Police Department on October 23, 2020. They seized all of her Falun Gong books and a picture of the founder of Falun Gong.
Ms. Ma Yuzhi and Ms. Zhang Wenling were subjected to half a year of residential surveillance after someone reported to the Xiangjiang Police Station that they talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on the afternoon of March 17, 2020.
Local police officers ordered Ms. Ma and Ms. Zhang to sign guarantees to stop practicing Falun Gong in early August. Neither of them complied. On August 12, they were again harassed and ordered to sign by Xiangjiang Police Station officers. The officers said that their cases had been submitted to the procuratorate and would be legally processed. They kept harassing the two practitioners and trying to force them to write the guarantees.
Dong’e County Procuratorate officials ordered Ms. Ma and Ms. Zhang to sign the guarantees on the morning of September 23 and said that they would be tried in one or two months.
Ms. Ma and Ms. Zhang were taken away by officers from the Xiangjiang Police Station on October 16. The officers claimed that they were taking them to the Dong’e Procuratorate for routine processing. But Ms. Zhang was incarcerated in the Chiping District Detention Center and Ms. Ma was released because she failed the physical exam. Ms. Zhang’s family hired a lawyer and visited Ms. Zhang.
The Dong’e County Court scheduled their trial for October 23, but it was canceled on the afternoon of October 22.
Practitioners Wang, Yin Jun, and Cui Ying (genders unknown) are being held in the No. 4 Detention Center. The whereabouts of Shen (gender unknown) is unknown.
Mr. Wang Shuhong works in the Hebei University School of Architecture. Mr. Wang and his daughter went to Jiangxi Province to visit his son in July 2020. Mr. Wang was arrested by officers from a local police station for distributing Falun Gong flyers. Mr. Wang was detained there.
Ms. Shu Yulan, 59, lives in Anqing City. Ms. Shu Yulian, 68, her sister, lives in Hefei City. Anqing City police officer Zhan Wei and others went to Ms. Shu Yulian’s home in Hefei City on October 16, 2020. They asked her how many Falun Gong flyers her sister distributed. Ms. Shu Yulian said she did not give any out and she did not know what her sister did. But the officers pressed her, trying to make her say something against her sister. They said they would have the procuratorate charge both of them. Ms. Shu Yulian was so stressed that her husband took her blood pressure. The systolic pressure reading was over 130, very high. Even though she was terribly dizzy after more than two hours of interrogation, the officers had her sign a record before they left.
Ms. Shu Yulian visited Anqing City in May. Someone reported that she and Ms. Shu Yulan talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on May 2, 2020. Police stalked them and followed them to their younger brother’s home. Half a dozen officers broke into the home, ransacked it, and confiscated Falun Gong materials and 92,000 yuan cash that Ms. Shu Yulan had her sister-in-law hold for her. The two sisters and their sister-in-law, who is not a practitioner, were taken to the Dananmen Police Station. The officers then ransacked Ms. Shu Yulan’s home.
Officers from the police station and Anqing Domestic Security Division office took the sisters to a detention center the following evening. The sisters both had high blood pressure, so the detention center refused to admit them. The police released them late at night but ordered them to report to the police station daily and made them wear electronic ankle tags for a month.
