Nov. 13, 2020 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jiangxi Province, China

(Minghui.org) Two women in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province were sentenced to prison for their faith in Falun Gong after they had been detained at Nanchang No. 1 Detention Center for a year. Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Deng Guiying, 66, was taken from her home on September 20, 2019. For months, her family and friends did not know her whereabouts. They have recently learned that Ms. Deng had been sentenced to 3 years to Jiangxi Women's Prison again.

In 2003, Ms. Deng was also sentenced to three years in Jiangxi Women's Prison. While in the prison, she was forced to endure an extraordinary workload without pay and poor working conditions. As a result, her left thumb was severely deformed and could not bend or stretch. Her left leg was also in pain and is still hurting to this day. Even after she was released, police forced her to fingerprint a statement asserting that she would send thought reports to the police every month. Before her first prison term, she was arrested on her way to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was detained at a brainwashing center for three months in 2001.

Ms. Wan Lihua, in her 50s and a watch factory worker, started to practice Falun Gong in 2011. She was arrested on September 24, 2019, while telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong at the University of Nanchang. Her home was searched and ransacked. She was sentenced to three and a half years in August 2020. She appealed against her sentence, but the intermediate court upheld the verdict. She has been transferred to Jiangxi Women's Prison at the time of writing.
