After Three Years of Forced Labor, Liaoning Woman Sentenced to 2.5 Years for Her Belief

January 30, 2020 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province resident was sentenced to 2.5 years and fined 20,000 yuan for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Nie Jing, 47, was arrested on September 24, 2019. She was tried by the Taihe District Court on December 13, 2019. The judge handed down the prison sentence on December 29, 2019.

This isn’t the first time that Ms. Nie has been targeted for her faith. Shortly after the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, she was given three years of forced labor.

While serving time at the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Nie was tied up and shocked with electric batons on her neck, chest, back and then all the way to her feet. Her skin was burnt and she had excruciatingly painful blisters all over her body. The guards shocked her a few more times because she refused to renounce her faith.

Ms. Nie held a hunger strike for 23 days in May 2001. Guard Dong Bin shocked her with an electric baton on the fourth day and placed her in solitary confinement.

She was sent to Jinzhou Detention Center for further persecution after her labor camp term expired in 2002.
