Police Storm into Man’s Home and Arrest Him for His Faith

January 10, 2020 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Guangdong Province, China

(Minghui.org) The police tricked a 63-year-old man into opening his door before charging into his home and arresting him for practicing Falun Gong, a mind and body improvement system that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Pan Depei, a retired worker in Maoming City, Guangdong Province, has been detained for four months.

According to Mr. Pan’s attorney who met with him at Maoning City First Detention Center on December 9, 2019, Mr. Pan came out with handcuffs on. He told the lawyer that he has lost a lot of weight in just a few months of detention.

The attorney requested bail for Mr. Pan, but was denied.

Arrest

Mr. Pan heard a knock on his door with a person saying “package delivery” on September 16, 2019. He opened the door, only to have eight police officers force their way in and arrest him. They ransacked his home and confiscated dozens of Falun Gong books and fliers.

The police ransacked Mr. Pan’s other residence before taking him to Police Department of High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Maoming City. They interrogated him that evening and didn’t provide him with food or water.

On the next day, the police transferred Mr. Pan to Maoming City First Detention Center and held him there since then.

Mr. Pan’s family received a notice of criminal detention from the police on September 18.

Mr. Pan’s son went to the property management office in his father’s neighborhood and demanded to see the recording from the surveillance camera at the entrance of Mr. Pan’s apartment building. A staff member told him that the police had already ordered to have the recording erased.
