“There are so many beings and gods throughout the entire cosmos, and they are densely packed without any gaps, all staring at you and watching closely the thoughts of everyone on earth, for this affair on earth impacts the entire cosmic body.” (Fa Teaching Given at the 2014 San Francisco Fa Conference)
From Master’s words, as quoted above, we can easily see that there are a lot of beings watching a Dafa practitioner’s every thought. For each human notion, a practitioner must unconditionally look at him or herself to find the attachment and eliminate it. If one tries to hide it, one is not going to succeed in cultivation.
Master said,
“If you don’t let go of what you originally had you won’t be saved whatsoever, and you can cheat only yourself.” (Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. Fa Conference)
“Do you really not understand that it was a demon who came knocking at your door, thanks to your human attachments?” (“Be Vigilant,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress, Vol. III)
I was asked to help send forth righteous thoughts for fellow practitioners many times. When present, I noticed that many of them were interfered with by the old forces, because of their human notions.
There was one practitioner I didn’t know very well, but I was called to help when he was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after a major car accident. During sending forth righteous thoughts, I saw that he had two attachments that caused the tribulation. One was the attachment of lust. Alas, he didn’t resist nor eliminate this attachment.
The practitioner’s life was saved after having to go through surgery, after which he was transferred to a regular ward. Another practitioner said that he indeed had some issues with lust since his wife passed away a few years back.
Another practitioner in our area had been harassed by local police two times. After she was released from detention for the second time, I sent forth righteous thoughts for her and during the process I saw it was the lust that caused her tribulation.
She was released, but she did not remove that attachment. I believe it was very important to point this human notion out to her, as Master had warned practitioners in a teaching. Master said, “It might just be a matter of time before the old forces hurt you.” (Fa Teaching Given at the 2014 San Francisco Fa Conference)
I shared my understanding after detailing what I had seen when sending righteous thoughts. I encouraged her to pay attention to this attachment, and let it go.
There are more examples, but I will not discuss them, as two such incidences are enough to make my point. However, practitioners must remember that the attachments were caused by practitioners’ human notions.
Master said,
“Those troubles all stem from the person's own past actions” (“Teaching the Fa in Canada, 2006, Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. VII)
I remembered that I was sending forth righteous thoughts for a practitioner. Two of the old forces appeared and accused me by saying, “Look, he looks slack and weak. We are taking care of him, aren’t we?!”
At first I felt that I was helpless, but then I remembered Master’s words and continued sending righteous thoughts to negate the old forces’ interference.
Master said,
“I'm saying that I don't acknowledge the old forces' interfering with Dafa disciples, because the Dafa disciples are my disciples, and nobody else is worthy of handling them. And even less could we let them succeed in their plot to use Dafa disciples and impose things on the Dafa disciples to achieve their goals, ruining my disciples. ” (“Teaching the Fa at the Meeting with Asia-Pacific Students”, Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. VI)
To be sure, I’m not inferring that the old forces can use any reason to persecute practitioners for behaving worse than an ordinary person.
Some practitioners might have a certain attachment that might be difficult to eliminate, then become frustrated, and finally lose confidence in cultivation. Please don’t even consider this an option!
Master said,
