(Minghui.org) A 75-year-old woman is facing prosecution for appealing for her persecuted faith Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Song Caiping from Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province, was arrested on May 20, 2019, when she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was taken back to Wafangdian and released. She received a subpoena from the Wafangdian Procuratorate on June 20. When she went there on July 1, she was told that the prosecutor would submit her case to the court soon.
Below is her own account.
“Because I practice Falun Gong, I have been arrested, harassed, and monitored by the local police many times. I was brutally tortured while I was held at Huhhot Women's Drug Rehab Center and almost died.
I recently heard that the China Administration of the Press and Publications had issued a notice on March 1, 2011, to revoke its ban on publication of Falun Gong books. That would mean it is legal to possess Falun Gong books and materials.
I went to Beijing on May 20, 2019, bringing with me a copy of the official notice.
The Beijing Appeals Office had me arrested after discovering that I was a Falun Gong practitioner. They searched me and confiscated the notice I’d brought with me and two five-yuan banknotes that had “Falun Dafa is good” printed on them.
Wafangdian police officers took me back. They tried to put me in two detention centers in Dalian, but both refused to accept me after I failed the health exam.
The police released me later on, but they still submitted my case to the municipal procuratorate. I was summoned by the procuratorate on June 20. When I went there on July 1, prosecutor Guo Chengyu alleged that I broke the law by possessing those two banknotes that had “Falun Dafa is good” on them. He refused to answer my question about the government notice. He also urged me to show up when I received the subpoena from the court.
