(Minghui.org) While talking with several other Falun Gong practitioners recently, I discovered that many of them haven't spoken with their family members about Falun Gong and the persecution. Whatever the reason, we need to make a breakthrough in this area.
I asked a practitioner, “Do your children known the facts about Falun Gong?”
“They don't believe what I say,” he replied. “Forget it! Let it happen naturally.”
This practitioner invited me to a family party one day. Although I thought this was a good opportunity to talk to them, he told me that his daughter practiced Buddhism and he suggested that I didn't mention Falun Gong in front of them.
His family were all very kind and I chatted with them at the party. Before I left, I found an opportunity to talk to them about Falun Gong and the persecution.
I told them how my health and character improved after I started practicing Falun Gong. I also told them how the communist regime is using the Tiananmen self-immolation hoax to slander my faith.
They were very interested and asked me a lot of questions. The practitioner's grandson even asked if there was a Falun Gong book that he could read.
This experience made me realize that whatever a person's attitude is, we should maintain a positive outlook, never give up, and just keep trying to help them understand Falun Gong.
A group of practitioners in our local area only talk to people when they are invited to weddings or other events in other practitioners' families. They believe that it's enough if people think that Falun Gong practitioners are good people, and no one needs to let them know what Falun Gong is or why it's being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
In fact, we need to clarify the facts far and wide, not only at weddings or other events. By helping people understand the truth about Falun Gong and the evil nature of the communist regime, we are helping them set themselves free from the control of the regime and awaken their inner selves that are kind, sincere, and faithful.
A practitioner told me that he'd had the same dream for years. In his dream, he owned a piece of land, but he either forgot to plant seeds or forgot to harvest the crops in time. He always regretted it and felt that something was lacking, but he didn't know what it was.
I asked him if he had talked about Falun Gong and the persecution to his family. He said, “I only told my older brother and sister-in-law about it.”
When I asked why he hadn't spoken to his parents or other relatives, he told me, “My parents are intellectuals and strong-minded—they don't listen to me. My uncle works for the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, which is tasked with the persecution of Falun Gong. My other uncle works for the government.
“I always felt it was too difficult to talk to them, so I just gave up.” he said.
I encouraged him to overcome his fear and talk to his family about the persecution.
I feel this is our responsibility, both as a Falun Gong practitioner and a family member. This is not something for our own benefit but is really helping them.
