Looking Inward Helped Me to Quickly Overcome a Physical Tribulation

May 24, 2019 |   By a Western practitioner in the U.S.

(Minghui.org) I am a female Western practitioner in my early 70s. I have practiced Falun Dafa cultivation since 2005 and have benefited greatly from it.

A few weeks ago, in our Fa-study group, a practitioner shared how letting go of foods he was attached to helped him feel so much better. I commented that before I was a cultivator, I had a blood sugar imbalance and was often dizzy. I then changed to a diet low in sugar and was able to control it. I added that after I took up cultivation, the dizziness completely went away, and I’ve been able to enjoy eating anything I want.

Well, the next morning, I was very dizzy. As I sat on the edge of the bed, holding onto the nightstand and slowly standing up, I thought about all the things I had to do that day and wondered whether I could do them.

I then firmly thought that this was just a test. A cultivator has no illnesses, and Master has already cleansed my body a long time ago of all illnesses.

I decided to do the exercises and do all my Dafa projects and other chores as usual. I experienced no dizziness during the exercises and Dafa projects, but when I did ordinary chores I was dizzy again.

I realized that I must have a loophole in my cultivation and that I needed to upgrade my xinxing.

Master said,

“Whenever there is interference of one kind or another in qigong practice, you should look for reasons within yourself and determine what you still have not let go.” (The Sixth Talk from Zhuan Falun)

Then the thought came to me of an elderly fellow practitioner who used to have severe dizziness years ago. At the time, I told her it was because she was confused by too many human notions.

So, I began looking inward and asked myself, “Is my thinking confused in some way?”

I then realized that I was online a lot, reading and posting everyday people’s news on Facebook, and I had been getting my emotions too involved in the divisive political affairs of ordinary people. I was often irritated.

When I found this loophole, I remembered how Master said that ordinary people’s affairs are arranged by Gods according to their karma. Who would be president and what role he would play were all arranged, and so are his tribulations based on his karma. The same holds for all the other political figures as well. As cultivators, we don’t get angry or excited about ordinary people’s affairs.

Master said,

“... when a person reaches the Arhat level, in his heart he is not concerned about anything. He does not care at all in his heart for any ordinary human matter, and he will always be smiling and in good spirits.” (The Ninth Talk from Zhuan Falun)

After I adjusted my thinking and actions, I was back to normal, and the dizziness was gone.

It made me again realize how important it is for a cultivator not to treat physical tribulations as ordinary human illnesses but rather view them as being related to our xinxing. To overcome them, our thoughts must be aligned with the Fa, not with human thinking or human solutions to the problem.

Master also said,

“Cultivation practice must take place through tribulations so as to test whether you can part with and care less about different kinds of human sentimentality and desires. If you are attached to these things, you will not succeed in cultivation.” (The Fourth Talk from Zhuan Falun)

This is my understanding at my present level. Please point out anything that is incorrect.
