Jilin Woman Tortured During Three Years in Prison for Upholding Her Faith

October 31, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jilin Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Xingrong, a Falun Gong practitioner in Jilin City, Jilin Province, was arrested on June 3, 2015 for distributing information about Falun Gong and later sentenced to three years in prison by Changyi District Court.

She recently recounted the torture she suffered while being detained at Jilin City Detention Center and Jilin Women's Prison.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Forced Labor at Jilin City Detention Center

Ms. Liu said that she was forced to do intensive unpaid labor at Jilin City Detention Center, including processing tin foil and other heavy metals. Without any personal protection equipment, she often breathed in tiny pieces of the foil, which also had a pungent smell. She often had swelling and pain in her fingers as a result of the heavy labor. The inmates closely monitored her and often verbally abused her.

Jilin Women's Prison

At Jilin Women's Prison, the guards forced Ms. Liu to sit on a small stool for extended periods of time. She was also forced to watch slanderous videos attacking Falun Gong.

Inmates were ordered by the guards to closely monitor imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners' daily activities, including when they ate, drank, used the restroom, took showers, sat or stood, which caused tremendous mental pressure to the victims.

In addition to the torture she suffered herself, Ms. Liu also described the torture that another practitioner, Ms. Li Guiying, suffered in the prison.

When Ms. Li refused to go to the front row while being forced to watch brainwashing videos against Falun Gong, an inmate named Gong Cuijie threw the back of her head against the wall. The back of Ms. Li's head swelled up afterwards. She also suffered headaches and dizziness. Her blood pressure increased to 150 mmHg.

After she reported the incident to the prison guards, inmate Gong denied it was her who caused Ms. Li's injuries and claimed that she hurt herself because she refused to take blood pressure pills. Guard Gao Yang later force-fed Ms. Li with unknown drugs and injured her nose and mouth. Ms. Li's wrists also had bruises after the force feeding.
