(Minghui.org) I'm a physician and also a Falun Dafa practitioner. In addition to treating my patients with modern medicine, I sometimes introduce them to Falun Dafa, the ancient mind-body discipline, as an alternative therapy to improve their health and ease their minds. Below I want to share the stories of how two of my patients have benefitted by learning Falun Dafa.
One day a woman with severe anemia caused by vaginal bleeding came to my hospital. As we talked, I learned that she and her three sisters all suffered from depression. Two of her older sisters had committed suicide by hanging themselves—one had died three years ago and the other just three days before.
Her sister's recent death had dealt her a heavy blow. She was overcome with grief and anxiety and couldn't sleep. She was contemplating suicide herself.
She'd said to another doctor, “I just don't want to live anymore. I will let you know in advance if I decide to die.”
That doctor was so concerned about her that he asked her relatives to stay with her 24 hours a day.
This patient had a hysterectomy. While she was recovering, I went to talk to her and told her how wonderful Falun Dafa is and how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has deceived people in its persecution of the practice. She accepted what I said and agreed to quit the Communist Party and its other organizations. Her daughter also quit the Party.
I told her, “If you sincerely recite 'Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is good,' you will be blessed and you will sleep better.”
She told me she'd heard that Falun Dafa was good and she would definitely recite those words. I gave her a small mp3 with podcasts about Falun Dafa and a keepsake that read, “Falun Dafa is good.”
As soon as I got to the hospital the next day, she came up to me, very excited, and said, “I slept well last night for the first time in a long time.”
Over the following days, she was always smiling—everyone could tell she was happy. A few days later, she was discharged from the hospital.
A month later when she came to the hospital for a follow-up visit, she told me, “Doctor, I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you did for me. You saved my life.”
I replied, “It's not I who saved you, it is Dafa that saved you.”
“I know it is Dafa that actually saved me, but it was you who told me about Falun Dafa and taught me to recite those words. Those podcasts are so good. Falun Dafa teaches us to be good. Now I have changed, and I don't easily get angry anymore. I sleep well at night and have plenty of energy every day. I feel that life is good and do not want to commit suicide anymore!”
I gave her another keepsake for her younger sister and urged her to introduce Falun Dafa to her sister and have her listen to the podcast. She agreed.
An ovarian cancer patient was admitted to my hospital for surgery, but the cancer had metastasized to her bladder, intestines, and peritoneum, and surgery was no longer an option. She needed to have chemotherapy.
While she was in the hospital, I clarified the truth of Falun Dafa to her, told her how wonderful Falun Dafa is and how the Communist Party persecutes it. She listened with interest.
She went to another hospital for six rounds of chemotherapy. Six months later, she came back for a follow-up exam. She looked vibrant, her voice was strong, and her face was glowing. No one could believe she still had cancer.
She told me, “So many patients were getting chemotherapy, but I was the only one who didn't have any side effects. I ate well and slept well. My white blood cells stayed at a good level without drugs.” She said that most of the cancer patients she knew had passed away, but she survived.
She also told me that she liked the podcast about Falun Dafa that I'd given her. She started to follow Dafa's principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and tries to be a good person—to be kind to her family and stop contending for personal benefit. Her husband witnessed her changes and supports her in her continuing to learn Falun Dafa.
