(Minghui.org) A Qinzhou City resident in Guangxi Province was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan for helping a Falun Gong practitioner's husband.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Liao Dawu was arrested on the morning of July 17, 2018 while accompanying Ms. Li Jinhe's husband to the Domestic Security Division to request a visit with her, who had been arrested one month earlier for practicing Falun Gong.

Feng Biaoguang, the deputy head of 610 Office, who happened to be at the Domestic Security Division during their visit, ordered the police to arrest the two men.

While Ms. Li's husband was released later that afternoon, Mr. Liao, who is a Falun Gong practitioner like Ms. Li, remained detained at Hongyang Police Station and interrogated. The police ransacked his office and confiscated many of his personal belongings.

The Qinbei District Procuratorate approved his arrest on August 3 and submitted his case to Qinbei District Court weeks later.

Mr. Liao appeared at Qinbei District Court on November 23. None of his family was allowed to attend the hearing. The authorities dispatched 50 police officers to stand guard outside the courthouse during his hearing.

Mr. Liao was sentenced to two years in prison at his sentencing hearing on December 28. The hearing lasted only a few minutes, with him given no chance to defend himself.
