(Minghui.org) It used to be a wonderful experience doing the Faun Dafa exercises at the public exercise site before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) starting persecuting Dafa in 1999.
We used to arrive early so we could clean the site and share our understandings based on the Fa. Once the music started, we stood in the proper position and moved uniformly, following Master's commands. We could feel an enormous, benevolent energy field.
However, after the onset of the CCP's persecution, we could no longer do the exercises in public. Over time, some practitioners stopped cultivating in Dafa, others only read the Fa, some do the exercises on and off, while some rarely do the exercises and claim that they are busy with Dafa work.
Master has told us about the importance of doing the exercise multiple times:
“And this is what, at higher stages of practice, Daoists describe as the “birth of the immortal infant” and Buddhists the “developing of an incorruptible body.” Many special powers are to be developed in the body as well. Physical movements and techniques are needed to develop all of these, and our exercises serve this purpose. For a practice to really be considered one of mind and body, there has to be both a spiritual and a physical component to it.” (“What Sets Falun Dafa Apart,” The First Talk, Zhuan Falun, 2018 Translation)
“This might lead you to wonder what need there is for doing them, then. Doing them serves to strengthen the falun as well as the many capabilities and mechanisms that I give you.” (“What Sets Falun Dafa Apart,” The First Talk, Zhuan Falun, 2018 Translation)
“The exercises play a supporting role alongside cultivation, and neither can be neglected.” (“A Congratulatory Letter to the Fa Conference of Argentina,” Team Yellow Translation)
“Many Dafa disciples are shouldering several Dafa projects, and things that validate the Fa do need to be done, so they don't have time to study the Fa or they have less time to study the Fa and do the exercises. They indeed can't continue doing this long-term.” (“Teaching the Fa in San Francisco, 2005”)
Master's Fa clearly tells practitioners that doing the exercises is a necessary step in our cultivation. No matter how busy we are, we cannot skip doing the exercises.
Master also told us that doing the exercises will bring great benefit:
“That's because doing the exercises is the most effective way to get rid of fatigue, it's the best way to quickly make your body recover.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference”)
“Joining our group exercise sessions is better than anything similar you could do, and you will find, if you practice at one, that it does more for your health than any therapy or form of treatment ever could.” (“How to Introduce the Practice to Others,” The Third Talk, Zhuan Falun, 2018 Translation)
Doing the exercises will not only purify and change our body but also improve our determination and endurance on our cultivation path. Our belief in Dafa will also be strengthened. During the exercises, when we focus all our thoughts on Dafa, the exercises, and make all moves following Master's commands, we will feel the energy and therefore feel the sacredness of Dafa.
Many practitioners, when being tortured in CCP prisons, still try to do the Dafa exercises. What excuses do we have for not cherishing the environment in which we can do the exercises freely?
