(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where 19 Falun Gong practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Chang Hongxia and Ms. Yang Hua were arrested by officers from the Tiebei Police Station on December 29, 2018, for distributing Falun Gong calendars. Ms. Chang's home was ransacked, and MP3 players, Falun Gong books, and informational materials were confiscated.
Officers from Xinghua Town Police Station went to the home of Ms. Yang's son and ransacked it. However, they did not find any items related to Falun Gong.
Ms. Chang and Ms. Yang were taken to the Railway Hospital for a physical examination and then to a detention center for 13 days. They were then transferred to the Liaoyuan Detention Center and placed in criminal detention. The authorities never informed their families.
Ms. Jia Guilan, 64, was arrested at home by three plainclothes officers on December 29, 2018, for distributing calendars the day before. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Liu Wenwen was arrested at her parent's home by officer Zhang Mengkan and others from the Guangzong County Domestic Security Division on May 13, 2018. She was taken to the Guangzong Police Department.
The police took Ms. Liu to her mother-in-law's home, and ransacked it, confiscating Falun Gong books and informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Liu was about eight months pregnant at the time.
She was taken back to the police department and forced to sign a statement renouncing Falun Gong. Ms. Liu was forced to pay 1,000 yuan and was released that evening.
Ms. Li Kunying was arrested at home by officer Zhang and others on October 29, 2018. Her residence was ransacked and Falun Gong books, a cellphone, and other personal belongings were confiscated. She was taken to the Guangzong Police Department.
Ms. Li was transferred to the Xingtai Brainwashing Center the following day and detained for seven days. Her family was forced to pay 20,000 yuan. Ms. Li was released on November 6.
Mr. Zhang Chengwu was sentenced by the Qingzhou Court on January 8, 2019, for a second time. He was sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year prison term.
Mr. Zhang was held in the Changle Detention Center for ten days before being taken to the Jinan Prison.
Ms. Chen Ping was arrested at home by officers from the Minhang Domestic Security Division on November 4, 2018. She was taken to a detention center where she went on a hunger strike for approximately 20 days.
Ms. Chen was released on bail pending trial. Officers from the Minhang Police Department passed her case to the Minhang District Procuratorate on January 9, 2019.

Ms. Zhu Suyun's whereabouts have been unknown since late December 2018.
Ms. Liu Yu from Gaohuang Village was arrested by officers from the Longfeng Town Police Station on January 10, 2019, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Nine Practitioners were arrested on October 31, 2018, and had their homes ransacked. They are: Ms. Zhang Guilan, Ms. He Niudui, Ms. Xu Huifang, Ms. Luo Gengxiu, Ms. Liang Mengyue, Ms. Wang Yuqin, Ms. Li Shufang, Ms. Han Yongqing, and Ms. Pu Cuilan.
Ms. Han and Ms. Pu are in their 70s.
Ms. Zhang, Ms. He, Ms. Xu, and Ms. Luo's cases have been passed to the Suzhou District Procuratorate.
Mr. Sun Jianfeng was arrested at home by officers from Zhongning County on December 31, 2018. He is being held in the Zhongwei City Detention Center.
