(Minghui.org) Ms. Yang Jinxia, a Falun Gong practitioner in Changli County, Qinhuangdao City, was sentenced to a four-year imprisonment in September 2018 with a fine of 5,000 yuan. She is serving time at Hebei Province Women's Prison.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a meditation system that consists of gentle exercises and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Yang was telling local residents about Falun Gong at a farmers' market at Daifu Village on May 27, 2017, when someone reported her to the police and three plainclothes officers arrested her. They handcuffed her behind her back and took her to the Matuodian Police Station. Her home was also ransacked, and personal items were confiscated including books and materials related to Falun Gong.
The police later took her to Qinhuangdao Police Hospital for a checkup. She was diagnosed with tuberculosis and pulmonary emphysema. Afraid of the contagion, officers who accompanied her put on face masks. She was soon placed under house arrest, with agents stationed outside her home every day.
Chen Jianfeng, deputy director of Matuodian Police Station, and another officer went to Ms. Yang's home in the spring of 2018 to demand 2,000 yuan of bail bond. When Ms. Yang's husband paid the money, Chen said to him, “Your wife will be fine after you pay this money. Just do not tell others about this money.”
Changli Court held a trial on June 11, 2018, at Wugezhuang Village, where Ms. Yang lives. Judge Wei Yongli announced her prison sentence on September 13.
An officer from the court took Ms. Yang in for a physical examination on October 11, 2018. They drew five syringes of blood from her, leaving her dizzy and in bed after returning home.
Judge Wei led more officers four days later from the court and arrived at her home a bit past 4:00 a.m. They surrounded the house. Wei said, “We will take her to get the physical examination results and also have specialists do a thorough examination of her. We will then send her back home.”
Ms. Yang, however, did not come back home. Her family was notified by Hebei Women's Prison on October 25 to deposit money for her. Only then did they learn that she had already been sent to prison.
This was not the first time that Ms. Yang has been targeted for her belief. She used to suffer from numerous diseases and was infertile, but she became healthy and had a son after she began to practice Falun Gong in 1998. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000 and was detained for nine months. During her detention, she was abused on more than one occasion. A police officer punched her in the face repeatedly. She was once forced to stand for three straight days without any sleep. Because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, a guard once held her hand to repeatedly punch the portrait of the founder of Falun Gong. Her hand hurt for three months afterward.
Ms. Yang's latest imprisonment evoked her family's memory of her past suffering. They are very concerned about her health and safety, especially because they did not know why such a large amount of blood sample was taken on October 11, 2018. They were given that day's CT scan result, which stated that her condition wasn't much different from that reported back on May 27, 2017, when she was first taken for a checkup.
It is clear to her family that the authorities have total disregard for her life when she was admitted to prison while still suffering from tuberculosis and pulmonary emphysema and considered contagious.
As the family was not given her blood test results, they also suspect that the authorities may want to target her for possible organ harvesting.
Organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners has been widely reported in recent years. Ms. Ma Guilan, another practitioner in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, suddenly died during detention several months ago. Her internal organs were extracted for no reason.
