June 23, 2018 |   By Minghui correspondents De Long and Zhang Qian

(Minghui.org) This week, nearly ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners from 56 countries and areas held a series of events in Washington D.C. They introduced the self-improvement practice to the public and worked to raise awareness of the 19-year persecution of Falun Gong in China.

This report includes photos taken at the group exercise practice at Capitol Hill and the peaceful protest in front of the Chinese embassy, both on Wednesday.

Peaceful Protest in Front of Chinese Embassy

Ms. Yu Jing, one of the protest participants, escaped to the U.S. three years ago.

She said, “Because I refused to renounce Falun Gong, I was arrested three times, and was sentenced to prison. Now in America, I have the freedom to practice, so I feel that I have a responsibility to speak for my fellow practitioners in China, who don't have the freedom. I hope the people of the free world will help them.”

Ms. Yu lives in Washington D.C., and comes to the Chinese embassy several times a week to protest.

“A few embassy officials have said to me privately that they admire our spirit.”

Mr. Jiang Hai said that when he found Falun Gong, he knew that it was what he had been looking for.

“I immediately told my parents, who were also looking for a genuine cultivation practice,” Jiang Hai said, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is powerful. If everyone followed this principle, the world would be a much better place.”

“The Communist Party suppresses Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The persecution degrades morality. Everyone should contribute to improving morality,” Jiang explained, “I come here today to support righteousness.”
