(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 25 were illegally arrested.
Ms. Niu Bianbian was sentenced to an 18-month prison term and fined 1,500 yuan. Ms. Niu Bianzi was sentenced to a one-year prison term and fined 1,000 yuan.
Both practitioners' appealed to the Dingxi Intermediate Court, but their sentences were upheld on April 13, 2018. They were taken to Lanzhou City on April 23.
Ms. Jiang Daijun, 77, was taken to the Hechuan Detention Center in October 2017.
Ms. Yang Yafan was arrested at her home by officers from the Changchun City Domestic Security Division on April 22, 2018.
Ms. Liu Zhimin is being held in the Nancha Detention Center in Yichun City. She will be tried on May 10, 2018.
Ms. Sun Yaoxiang and Ms. Lan Fenglian were arrested by officers from the Zhongcun Town Police Station on April 23, 2018, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police ransacked their homes.
Ms. Sun and Ms. Lan were detained for 15 days.
Ms. Bai Shuying and Ms. Liu Ping were sentenced by the Yubei District Court and were being held in the district detention center. They were scheduled to be released in mid April 2018 but were taken to the Qianzhugou Brainwashing Center instead.
Three sisters with the surname Yu were arrested and taken to a local police station on April 24, 2018.
Ms. Liu Yannan, 60, was arrested on January 19, 2018. She was taken to the Zhaoda Detention Center.

Ms. Yu Chunxiang was arrested on April 24, 2018. Her home was ransacked.
Ms. Zhang Shumin and Ms. Fan Limin were arrested by officers from the Dongan Police Department on April 23, 2018.
Mr. Hu Biyou was arrested on May 13, 2017, for putting up banners with information about the persecution of Falun Gong on them. He was tried in the Lengshuijiang Court in September.
Mr. Hu was sentenced to an 18-month prison term and fined 10,000 yuan in March 2018.

Ms. Liu Meirong was arrested at her home by Chengguan Police Station officers in Changle City on April 24, 2018.
Ms. Du Yanrong and Ms. Gao Guiying were arrested by officers from Caitun Town on April 24, 2018, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Ms. Du and Ms. Gao were taken to the Linqing Detention Center for ten days.
Ms. Zhang Guifen and Ms. Wang Fengqin were arrested by officers from the Jiutai District Domestic Security Division and Weizigou Police Station on April 24, 2018. They were taken to the Majiagang Detention Center in Jiutai.

Ms. Mu Yanli was arrested by officers from the Jinzhou Railway Police Department on April 23, 2018. Her home was ransacked, and she was taken to the Jinzhou City Detention Center.
Ms. Han Yufan was arrested by officers from the police department. Her home was ransacked, and she was taken to a detention center.

Mr. Guo Jiugen was arrested on April 24, 2018.
Ms. Yu Mei was arrested on October 16, 2016, after being reported to the authorities for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Peng Wenchang and several other officers from the Xiuhui Police Station ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books.
Ms. Yu was tried in the Zhangqiu District Court in late September 2017 and was sentenced to two years in early 2018. She was taken to the Shandong Province Women's Prison.
Mr. Liu Xiyong, 78, was arrested on April 9, 2018, and remains in detention. His wife tried to stop the police from taking him away when they came to arrest him. One officer said, “Even if he dies in custody, we'll keep him there!”
Mr. Liu was first arrested in April 2002 and held in the Dalian Forced Labor Camp for two years. He was tortured and tied to a bed in a “spread-eagle” position for more than 40 days.
Police arrested him again on April 24, 2006. He went on a hunger strike at a detention center. The guards beat him and force-fed him unknown drugs that made his abdomen swell.
His third arrest took place on July 24, 2008, after which he was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison.
He was arrested on February 26, 2017, and sentenced to three years in prison. He noticed the verdict was dated one month before his actual court date. Due to his poor health, Mr. Liu was allowed to serve his sentence outside of prison.
Ms. Ning Lanqing and Ms. Wu Xiurong appealed to the Neijiang Intermediate Court after being sentenced. The intermediate court held a hearing in the Neijiang Detention Center on the morning of April 18, 2018. Their lawyers pleaded “not guilty” on behalf of their clients.
The court didn’t make any decision and said it would be announced during the next session.
Ms. Zhang Shuzhi and her daughter Ms. Hou Xiaoyan were tried in the Acheng District Court on the morning of April 18, 2018. Only six family members were allowed to attend the trial.
The two practitioners denied all the charges and their lawyers pleaded “not guilty” on their behalf. The trial lasted three hours, but no verdict was announced.
Mr. Li Yizhe, an associate professor at the Nanguang College of the Communication University of China, was arrested by officers from the Gaoxinyuan Police Station in the Jiangning District on December 7, 2016, because he mailed letters informing people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Mr. Li was tried at the Jiangning Court on the morning of April 19, 2018. Only three family members were allowed to attend. The other seats were filled with police officers or staff from the 610 Office.
His lawyer pleaded “not guilty” on his client's behalf, and Mr. Li refuted all the charges. The trial lasted two hours, but no verdict was announced.
