May 05, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in China

(Minghui.org) When Mr. Lu Yankun was diagnosed with late stage liver cancer during his illegal imprisonment, prison authorities released him on parole in order to avoid being held responsible for his condition. Mr. Lu is a 59-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Benxi City, Liaoning Province.

He is currently in critical condition at a hospital in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province.

Mr. Lu was arrested in Jiyuan City, Henan Province, on January 5, 2015, and held in the Jiyuan Detention Center. In 2016, he was sentenced to six years in prison by the Jiyuan Court. In 2017, he was taken to Zhengzhou Prison in Xinmi City, Henan Province, where he was held and tortured until he was diagnosed in April 2018.

From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Lu was incarcerated in Zhengzhou Prison for refusing to give up his faith.

When Falun Gong practitioners appealed for justice to the Chinese central government on April 25, 1999, Mr. Lu was one of the representatives who met with the prime minister. He has been arrested, detained, and sent to forced labor camps many times since then and has been forced to stay away from his home to avoid harassment.

Mr. Lu's wife, Wang Xunzhi, was once held in the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for two years.
