May 19, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jiangsu Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gu Xinfang's unlawful prison sentence was extended again for another year by the Qixia District 610 Office and judicial officials in Nanjing City on April 1, 2018. They also put electronic monitoring devices on her wrist and ankle.

Ms. Gu, 75, was a doctor at the Eight District Hospital of Zhongjian Group in Nanjing City. She was arrested at a grocery store by officers from the Qixia District 610 Office, the Domestic Security Police Department, and the Yaohuamen Police Station on October 15, 2015.

Her arrest came after she filed a lawsuit against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin, who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Gu was sentenced to one year of imprisonment and taken to the Nanjing City Detention Center.

Zhai Zongbing, Fu Weicheng, Zhang Bin, Ma Zhiqiang and other Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members ransacked her home and confiscated two computers, a printer, a laminator and personal items.

During her detention, the Qixia District Court secretly sentenced her to another year of imprisonment and commuted it to monitored home detention in 2016. Ms. Gu was released from the detention center at the end of July 2016.

At home, she noticed that her two bank deposit books, a cash card that had 10,000 yuan, and 7,000 yuan in cash had also been confiscated. She was not provided with a receipt for these items.

When she went to the police station to request the return of her assets, the authorities denied taking her money and instead added another year to her prison term. They also fined her 10,000 yuan.

Ms. Gu filed an appeal with the Nanjing City Intermediate Court in July 2017. Officials from the Qixia District 610 Office and Yaohuamen Police Station then visited her and threatened to imprison her if she insisted on appealing.

She was arrested and held at a detention center for one month before the Chinese Communist Party’s 19th National Congress in July 2017.

Officials from the Qixia District 610 Office, the Yaohuamen Police Station and the local judiciary informed Ms. Gu on April 1, 2018, that her prison term was extended for another year and would end on October 15, 2019. Police also put monitoring devices on her.

Ms. Gu served as a doctor in a military hospital and was later demobilized before taking a job at the Eighth District Hospital.
